The discussion analyzed the various ways to encourage the use of alternative sources of energy; an issue which has been widely discussed in the past and now brings us to discover and experiment innovative solutions such as carbon sequestration or new generation photovoltaic cells which may lead us to a change in our usual habits. Energy saving, nuclear power, carbon and renewable energy sources are prime candidates in bringing their contribution to the solution of a crisis determined by the scarcity of oil fields. Participants discussed possible solutions for Italy, for example, ways to support technological research as well as the reduction of geopolitical risks related to the supply of natural gas. Particular attention was devoted to norms which may encourage businesses to invest in alternative forms of energy. Participants also discussed the future of Aeolian parks (often threatened by decisions made at a local level) and the opportunities offered by the use of photovoltaic and bio-mass generated energy.
