On March 6 – one year after the Russian invasion of Ukraine – the Center for American Studies in Rome held an event to take stock of the evolution of policy, diplomacy and narrative vision in the West.
Transatlantic Forum: The Future of The West was organized in collaboration with Aspen Institute Italia, the European Council on Foreign Relations, the US Embassy in Italy and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The event featured alternating contributions from leading policy-makers, analysts and international policy experts, with full audience participation.
Speakers evaluated the military situation on the ground today, and reflected upon prospects for the war’s evolution, the effects of American-led Western cooperation and relative decisions, the compact European position and its meaning, and the behavior of other global players, such as China and India.
One highlight of the event was a moving speech by a representative from the Ukrainian Embassy in Italy.
