    The Aspen Institute Italia Seminar on Values and Society

      The 17th edition of the Aspen Institute Italia Seminar on Values and Society is held in collaboration with The Aspen Institute.

      The three-day seminar is dedicated to the memory of Aspen Institute Italia co-founder Ennio Presutti, who passed away in 2008.

        The 16th edition of the Aspen Institute Italia Seminar on Values and Society is held in collaboration with The Aspen Institute.

              The sixth annual Aspen Institute Italia Seminar on leadership and globalization was once again organized by Aspen Institute Italia in collaboration with The Aspen Institute US.

                  The Aspen Institute Italia Seminar on Values and Society

                    For the seventh year running and in conjunction with The Aspen Institute, the Aspen Seminar on Values and Society was held in Italy. Those participating in this latest event in the Aspen Seminar series – the widely-acclaimed flagship program of the US Aspen Institute since 1951 – were encouraged to debate the fundamental and shared values of diverse cultures with a view to distilling the core aspects of a modern and informed approach to leadership.

                    The Enlightenment and the Transatlantic Link: Common Roots and Today’s Challenges

                      The third edition of “The Enlightenment and the Transatlantic Link: Common Roots and Today’s Challenges” took place within the setting of Spoleto’s Palazzo Ancaiani. The event was organized in conjunction with The Aspen Institute and was aimed at discussing the continued relevance today of Enlightenment values, through an interpretation of over thirty selected texts by American and European authors, including several from Italy. This modern-day rereading of these fonts of Enlightenment thinking was divided into five sessions structured around the following universal themes:

                      The Aspen Institute Italia Seminar on Values and Society

                        For the sixth consecutive year and in collaboration with The Aspen Institute, the Aspen Seminar on Values and Society was held in Italy. Since 1951, this series of seminars, which is conducted in English, has been the widely-acclaimed cornerstone program of the Aspen Institute tradition in the United States. This latest event in the series was aimed at Italian and overseas participants who, through an analysis and discussion of selected readings from classical and contemporary authors, debated the major universal values and their relationship with the burning issues of today.

                          This follow-up session to the November 2009 Aspen Italia Seminar (then held in Rome) on “The Enlightenment and the Transatlantic Link: Common Roots and Today’s Challenges” took place within the setting of Spoleto’s Palazzo Ancaiani. The event was organized in conjunction with The Aspen Institute and was aimed at discussing the continued relevance today of Enlightenment values, through an interpretation of over forty selected texts by American and European authors, including several from Italy.

                          The Enlightenment and the transatlantic link: common roots and today’s challenges

                            This Seminar, organized in conjunction with The Aspen Institute, America, examined the relevance today of Enlightenment values through the analysis of more than forty texts by American and European authors – including several Italian writers – which paved the way for contemporary thinking. The Seminar got underway with a look at the contradictions of our time, caught as it is between universalist idealism and the need for concrete responses to global problems.
