Last week, the foreign press review turned its attention to the most exciting sectors of Italian industry. Fashion made all the major international papers, which praised the success of the Fashion Week in Milan. El Pais summed up the main trends in five key points (September 24 – Una brújula para la jungla de Milán), Arab News described the enthusiasm for the Milan shows (September 26 – Milan fashion week wows enthusiasts), and the German Handelsblatt stated that Italy had done it again (September 23 – Italien schlägt zurück). In addition, the foreign press noted that the fashion industry is one of the most active in the financial sector.  Le Monde underlined that in an article on the upcoming listing of Moncler, explaining that the opening of its second ‘huge’ boutique in Paris reflects the amibition of the Italian brand  (September 25 – Moncler, spécialiste de la doudoune de luxe, vise une entrée en Bourse à Milan). Another collection, that of  Bottega Veneta for Summer 2014 was highlighted on the web sites of Bloomberg Businessweek (At Bottega Veneta, summer 2014 is about ruffles) and Newsweek/Daily Beast (Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2014: Palazzo Fashion).

Articles on Italy with a positive slant covered finance as well as fashion.  Bloomberg stated that after successfully lowering bond costs, Prime Minister Enrico Letta is now seeking the trust of investors in Wall Street  (Letta Faces Investor Test in New York After Italian Bond Success). In another article, the agency explained that Enel now manages to recover 99% of the water used in energy production (Enel Says 99% of Water It Uses for Power Returns to Environment).

Culture, Cuisine  and Tourism  – Italian culinary arts was the main interest of the cultural news. Arab News dedicated an article to the eatery chain Rossopomodoro, found in numerous Saudi shopping centers, and including for its readers the “real” traditional recipe of the Neapolitan pizza (Rossopomodoro — an authentic Italian restaurant ) and the Argentinean Clarin described how Italian cooking was the center of the Italian festival of the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires  (La italianidad se celebró en la calle y busca rincón propio en Palermo).

Articles in Die Ziet and El Mundo were dedicated to tourism. The German paper visited the mountains of Piedmont and the places where the partisans fought (September 23 – Im Felsenmeer der Partisanen), and the Spanish paper traveled down to Sicily to see Mount Etna, which UNESCO recently included on its World Heritage List   (September 21 –Visita al Monte Etna).
