    Fashion week – Fashion week takes centre stage with the Milan shows. While The New York Times outlines the “spring trends” (September 22 – Next Spring, Next Trends*), Financial Times, in an article reviewing the various shows, declares itself “mad for Milan” (September 23 – Mad for Milano*), dwelling in particular on the offerings from Gucci (September 20 – Gucci by name, and nature*). At any rate, as El País explains, the Florentine brand brought Milan Fashion Week to its “climax” (September 22 – Gucci lleva al clímax la semana de la moda de Milán). The “great power” of Gucci, along with Dolce Gabbana’s “jungle roar” are also prominently featured in an Associated Press article (picked up on September 22 by The New York TimesGucci Takes a Kinky Turn; Dolce&Gabbana Give a Jungle Roar* and by The Washington PostGucci takes a kinky turn; Dolce&Gabbana give a jungle roar*).

    Design – In the world of luxury, The Wall Street Journal visits a “paradise” house for après-ski relaxation at Madesimo, with a spa designed by the architect Luca Capurso (September 19 – This Master Spa is a Post-Slopes Paradise*), while Expansión, on the subject of interior design, interviews Lorenzo Meazza, Ikea’s Global Event Design Manager and author of the book published in Spanish under the title Las casas de nuestra vida (September 25 – La casa ideal no existe, bien lo sabe Lorenzo Meazza de Ikea). Automobile design is also covered, with the test of the F8 Tributo, “the most beautiful Ferrari in a decade”(Bloomberg, September 24 – The Most Beautiful Ferrari in a Decade Pays Tribute to Racecars Past*).

    Culture – Cultural reporting covers the portrait of the poet Michele Marullo, the last Botticelli in private hands, auctioned by the Spanish Cambó family for € 30 million (El Mundo, September 19 – Los 30 millones del Botticelli de los Cambó) as well as the artworks made of marble blocks submerged off the Argentario peninsula; spearheaded by Paolo Fanciulli, and called “House of Fish,” the initiative is designed to protect sea bottoms and marine life from commercial fishing (The New York Times, September 24 – An Underwater World of Marble to Amuse and Protect Tuscan Fish*). Lastly, in cinema, Le Monde interviews Marco Bellocchio on the occasion of his latest film The Traitor (September 21 – Marco Bellocchio : « Chacun de mes films trahit le précédent, car l’inconnu m’attire »*), while El País writes about Sofia Loren, at work making La vita davanti a sé, a feature-length film directed by her son Edoardo Ponti (September 20 – Sofía Loren, 85 años de una vida de luces y sombras).
