    Culture – Culture takes centre stage in the foreign press, with the spotlight focused on the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale. TheWall Street Journal visits “the world’s biggest art fair,” hunting for “newer, must-see attractions” (May 13 – The ModernSide of Ancient Venice: A Traveler’s Guide*). And while El País recounts the “offerings in parallel with the traditional pavilions” (May 12 – En el laberinto de la Bienal de Venecia), other newspapers explain how this exhibition, which is taking on the “era’s big challenges” (The Guardian, May 10 – Climate to fake news: Venice Biennale takes on era’s big challenges), holds up a “mirror to the world,” useful to recount the era’s great issues (Le Monde, May 10 – Arts : la Biennale de Venise, miroir du monde*), in addition to understanding “art trends” (The New York Times, May 14 – At Venice Biennale, the Art’s for Sale, if You Know the Right People*). Foreign dailies also devote coverage to other topics: Expansión, for example, reviews the concert held in Madrid by Ennio Moricone, an evening of “pure emotion” (May 8 – EnnioMorricone, orquestandoalmas).

    Tourism – Culture also features prominently in tourism news: The New York Times spends 36 hours in Milan, explaining how the city is “expanding its horizons” with “new cultural projects open in former industrial zones” (May 9 – 36 Hours in Milan*). Other newspapers recount how this year, the Giro d’Italia is celebrating, with its stages, not only the Campionissimo Fausto Coppi, but also Leonardo Da Vinci on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his death (El Mundo, May 9 – Un Giro paraCoppi y Leonardo da Vinci; Libération, May 11 – Giro : Léonard de Vinci, le faux inventeur du vélo*).     Economy and business – In Italian business news, Financial Times recounts how ENEL’s profits are “boosted by green energy” (May 8 – Italy’s Enel profits boosted by green energy, LatAm business*), while The New York Times explains how the Milanese jewellery brand Buccellati is celebrating its 100th year of history with a new “vintage collection” (The New The York Times, May 13 – The Italian Jewelry Maker Buccellati Celebrates Its 100th Year*). Coverage is also devoted to motors, with a new model of the legendary Moto Guzzi (Der Standard, May 15 – Moto Guzzi V85 TT: Stilkann man jetztkaufen).
