    Tourism and culture– Numerous reports are devoted to culture and tourism in Italy. The focus is on the “unprecedented” discovery in Pompeii of an “almost perfectly preserved” wedding carriage (February 27 and 28 in ReutersArchaeologists uncover ancient ceremonial carriage near Pompeii; The Guardian, 27 February – Archaeologists find unique ceremonial vehicle near Pompeii; Suddeutsche ZeitungPrunkwagen mit erotischen Motiven; Frankfurter Allgemeine ZeitungTriumphwagen mit erotischen Abbildungen ausgegraben; Die Welt –  Einzigartiger Fund – Triumphwagen mit erotischen Motiven; Le Matin – Italie: découverte d’un char de l’époque romaine près de Pompéi; L’Orient le JourDécouverte d’un char de l’époque romaine près de Pompéi). Financial Times, on the other hand, offers an “insider’s” guide to Italian art, with tips from Pepi Marchetti Franchi, director of Rome’s Gagosian Gallery, who recounts “unique experiences and undiscovered places to delight and inspire” visitors (February 26 – The art insider’s guide to Italy*). And in its FT Globetrotter guide dedicated to the capital, the British daily reports on an unusual journey to the “surfing paradise” offered by various localities on the Lazio coastline (March 2 – Italian new wave: the top surfing spots only a short hop from Rome*).

    The foreign media also dedicate coverage to celebrating the life of Giuseppe Rotunno, cinematographer with Visconti and Fellini who “made his mark in both black-and-white and colour” (The Guardian, March 1 – Giuseppe Rotunno obituary). Lastly, in music, El Mundo celebrates the Golden Globe won by Laura Pausini, covering the artistic trajectory of a singer “who has been working for her own dreams since she was 12 years old” (March 2 – Laura Pausini: de su novio Marco (que se marchó para no volver) a su millonaria cuenta bancaria).

    Economy – In the economic news, Expansión relates how Italy has “an edge over Spain” in green bonds with the issue of the first BTp verde (March 2 – Italia se adelanta a España con una macroemisión de bonos verdes*), while Reuters also covers the listing of Leonardo’s American branch on Wall Street (February 26 – Leonardo files for DRS NYSE listing, to be completed by end-March).

    Fashion and lifestyle – In lifestyle, the focus is again on fashion, with the virtual shows of Milan’s Fashion Week. The spotlight is on Giorgio Armani and his Emporio collection “taking fashionistas back to the 1980s” (Reuters, February 26 – Emporio Armani nods to 1980s in fall line at Milan Fashion Week), and with an interview with Le Monde outlining a profile of this “herald of fashion, quite active in the struggle against the pandemic (February 25 – Giorgio Armani : « Le défilé virtuel n’est pas l’avenir »*). El País, on the other hand, covers the offerings of Prada, which is imbuing the shows with “ambition and good cheer” (February 26 – La moda de Milán: mente caliente, corazón frío), and also recounts the Italian life of Lady Gaga who, as the star of the film dedicated to the Gucci family, will be spending a month between Rome, Florence, Milan, and Lake Como, “the emblem of luxury and the famed family’s refuge” (February 28 – La vida romana de Lady Gaga durante el rodaje del drama de los Gucci). Florentine villas are also covered in The New York Times Style Magazine, which tells the story and recounts the interiors of the fifteenth-century home of the Caponi family on the hills of Florence (March 3 – A Florentine Villa Whose Story Is One of Family*).

    Food is also in the news, with The New York Times offering a “dreamy menu” with baked pasta and cookies for dessert, “inspired by Italy” (February 26 – Chef’s Choice: A Dreamy Menu, Inspired by Italy*) and Der Standard offering the Lombard recipe for cake made with stale bread (March 2 –Lombardischer Brotkuchen: Hartes Brot nicht wegwerfen, sondern damit backen!).
