    Economy – New stock exchange listings and international growth plans make the news as the foreign press covers Italian economic affairs again this week: Bloomberg reports on the Technogym public offering, explaining that the Italian “Olympic supplier” will list at least one quarter of its stake (April 4 – Technogym Investor Plans Stake Sale of at Least 25% in Milan IPO); on the other hand, Les Echos and Reuters recount the privatization plans and the future stock exchange listing of Enav (April 4 – L’Italie prête à engager la privatisation partielle de son contrôle aérien*; April 6 – Italy’s ENAV files request to list on Milan bourse). Positive stock exchange results were also enjoyed by Yoox, a company that has made itself the “worldwide Amazon of luxury” thanks to integration with France’s Net-a-Porter. Les Echos reports on this while profiling its CEO Federico Marchetti (April 1 – Federico Marchetti, le geek de la mode en ligne*).

    Another success story on international markets is Ferrero, which saw sales increase by 13.4% in 2015, as Spain’s Expansion reports (April 5 – Ferrero Internacional aumentó sus ventas en un 13,4% en 2015). Also covering the Piemontese company is die Welt, which relates the Nutella “legend” taking hold on the German market (April 4 – Wie Nutella und Duplo zu deutschen Legenden wurden).

    Also under the spotlight is the Italian private equity firm 21 Investimenti, to which Bloomberg dedicates an article starting from the managerial choices of its founder Alessandro Benetton (April 6 – Benetton Heir Alessandro Goes It Alone With Private Equity Firm).

    Culture –Cultural coverage in international newspapers is concentrated on Rome and Milan. In the capital, the Spanish dailies El País and El Mundo recount “the multimedia journey into the work of Caravaggio,” which may be visited at Rome’s Palazzo delle Esposizioni di Roma (El Mundo, April 3 – Caravaggio, ¡qué subidón!; El Pais, April 4 – Las luces de Caravaggio). In Lombardy’s capital, Financial Times reviews La Cena delle Beffe, being staged at La Scala (April 5 – La cena delle beffe, La Scala, Milan — ‘Oozes atmosphere’*) and reports on how the new director of Brera Pinacoteca, James Bradburne, “is transforming one of the world’s greatest collections of Renaissance art” (April 1 – Shaking up Milan’s Pinacoteca di Brera*). Lastly, Le Monde reviews Alessandro Baricco’s The Young Bride (April 7 – Alessandro Baricco à la noce).

    Design –Milan is getting ready for Salone del mobile, a fair that always garners a great deal of attention from the foreign press. On the eve of the event, Financial Times visits the studios of some masters of industrial design – Achille Castiglioni, Franco Albini and Vico Magistretti – who are back in the city and a source of inspiration for young designers (April 1 – The Milan studios of three founding fathers of Italian design*).

    The New York Times Magazine, on the other hand, tells the story of another great designer, Renzo Mongiardino, the “architect of illusion,” with “a scholar’s erudition and an artist’s imagination” (April 6 – Renzo Mongiardino, the Architect of Illusion).

    The American daily continues to cover design – but this time, the jewellery sector – as it tells the story of Buccellati and the company’s traditional techniques that “haven’t changed since the Renaissance “(March 31 – At Buccellati, Elegance Forever*). Lastly, the Spanish press covers automotive style as it road tests Maserati’s new “luxury SUV,” the Levante, a real “wager” by the House of the Trident (El Mundo, April 1 – in Al volante del Maserati Levante; ExpansionConducimos el Maserati Levante, duro rival del Porsche Cayenne

    In memory of Cesare Maldini – Numerous foreign papers have dedicated extensive coverage to the death of Cesare Maldini, former captain of Milan and coach of the Italian National Team (The Washington Post, April 3 – Former Milan captain and Italy coach Cesare Maldini dies; BloombergFormer Italy Soccer Coach Cesare Maldini Dies, AC Milan Says; Le MondeCesare Maldini une vie en rouge et noir (et en bleu); New York TimesCesare Maldini, Who Led A.C.
