01/06/2010 – The Showcase project is conducted by the Intesa Sanpaolo Research Department, the IMT Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca, and the Fondazione CERM.
Research carried out as part of the Showcase project aims to identify and raise awareness of Italy’s leaders in the fields of industry and research.
Since its inception in December 2007, Showcase has seen the publication each year of new studies which, from time to time, taking into account the economic environment in which businesses operate, offer specific analyses.
2010
The research carried out this year examines Italian excellence in industry, building on previous data and examining a further variable, namely, the persistence of growth, earnings and operational performance, measured by analyzing the number of times each firm has been ranked in the annual results of the project’s research. Excellence in industry, Showcase 2010
2009
The third installment of the project’s research expanded the analysis of Italian excellence in industry, focusing in particular on Italian and foreign-owned manufacturing firms with turnovers exceeding 50 million euro which, during the period 2005-2007, performed particularly well in terms of growth and profitability and had a low gearing ratio.
This enabled the top 20 firms to be identified.
2008
The research carried out in 2008 produced a study of Italian industrial excellence which evaluated the performance of firms on the basis of innovation, image and internationalization, as well as examining the contribution made by foreign businesses operating in Italy to employment growth and productivity.
2007
The first phase of the Showcase research project analyzed Italian excellence in industry and in the biomedical research sector.
In relation to industry, a ranking was compiled for 2003-2005 of the 100 best-performing manufacturing firms with turnovers of more than 50 million euro.
The project also examined excellence in the research field with a specific focus on life sciences, analyzing – from an international perspective – the number of scientific publications, patents registered and R&D projects conducted by Italian scientists/researchers during the period 2001-2006.
