Showcase
The first phase of the Showcase research project analyzed Italian excellence in industry and in the biomedical research sector.
In relation to industry, a ranking was compiled for 2003-2005 of the 100 best-performing manufacturing firms with turnovers of more than 50 million euro.
Showcase
The research carried out in 2008 produced a study of Italian industrial excellence which evaluated the performance of firms on the basis of innovation, image and internationalization, as well as examining the contribution made by foreign businesses operating in Italy to employment growth and productivity.
Showcase
The third installment of the project’s research expanded the analysis of Italian excellence in industry, focusing in particular on Italian and foreign-owned manufacturing firms with turnovers exceeding 50 million euro which, during the period 2005-2007, performed particularly well in terms of growth and profitability and had a low gearing ratio.
This enabled the top 20 firms to be identified.
Local economic dynamism
The research, carried out in collaboration with Il Sole 24 ORE and Fondazione CERM for the National Interest Project, provides a concise overview of local economic dynamism in Italy.
A composite indicator was used taking into account three key aspects for gauging differences in the economic dynamism and wealth-generation capacity of local areas. The factors considered were:
Italy in the new geo-economy of the G20
The study backed by numerous indicators and data, analyzes the placement of Italy in the G20 after the changes caused by the financial crisis and the latest developments. The research was conducted by Fondazione Edison for Aspen Institute Italia.
Shifting the wealth of nations: the role of sovereign wealth funds
Italian successes and talented operators around the world
The experience gained by Italians around the world, the challenges that will need to be faced to build global skills, and the ability of the national economy to operate as a global actor are all aspects of a single issue, namely: how to make the most of overseas Italian talent. Talented Italians are finding it increasingly easier to emigrate rather than build reasonable career prospects for themselves at home.
Italian leaders abroad
This National Conference provided an opportunity for comparing the experiences of Italians who have managed to carve out brilliant careers and hold very high-level positions outside Italy, with a view to contributing to a better understanding of the country’s problems and areas of potential, and to identifying better long-term relationship-building and global integration prospects.

Research carried out as part of the Showcase project aims to identify and raise awareness of Italy’s leaders in the fields of industry and research.
Since its inception in December 2007, Showcase has seen the publication each year of new studies which, from time to time, taking into account the economic environment in which businesses operate, offer specific analyses.
