During the monitored period, interest on the part of specialist publications in scientific studies carried out by Italian researchers remained high, with contributions published in November once again predominantly concerned with research in the field of oncology. The studies picked up during this period mainly dealt with cancer clinical trials (with 9 related reports appearing in the monitored journals), together with cardiology and hypertension (with 4 contributions published in each of these fields).
In respect of the first of the specified subject areas, the studies published, delving into chemotherapy treatments and drugs used to treat leukemia, appeared in Nature and a number of its specialized journals (British Journal of Cancer, Leukemia, Oncogene, and Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, involving the work of 53 Italian researchers)
The articles on cardiology and hypertension were published in The Lancet, American Journal of Hypertension, Journal of Human Hypertension, as well as Nature Reviews Cardiology, and involved the input of around 30 native researchers.
Other contributions carried by the scientific press during the period were in the fields of biology (appearing in Cell Death & Differentiation and based on 4 studies carried out by 49 researchers), astrophysics (published in Science magazine and fruit of the efforts of 34 researchers operating at 10 Italian research centers), and neurology (involving 4 studies conducted by 23 researchers).
