The work done by Italian researchers once again received considerable attention by the scientific press. There were 39 discussions of Italian research in March, with a change in the tendency of previous months in the area of oncology. While prior monitoring showed that half the articles on Italian research discussed this branch of medicine, there were only seven studies on tumors and leukemia (2 respectively in Blood Cancer Journal, Oncogene and The Lancet, and one in Leukemia) conducted in 33 national centers by 77 researchers.
This drop was compensated by a wider range of studies in other fields. Along with biology (two studies in Cell Death and Differentiation, and one in Nature Cell Biology), there were others on genetics and gene therapy (two articles each in Gene Therapy and Journal of Human Genetics), internal medicine specialties (Kidney International e Nature Reviews Urology each published two studies; Nature Reviews Nephrology and The American Journal of Gastroenterology each published one study) and the cardiovascular apparatus (1 study each published in Embo Reports, Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism. Nature Reviews Cardiology and two in The Lancet). In all, these studies involved 55 researchers in 21 centers.
There were also studies published on the hard sciences, in particular photonics (Nature Photonics, Nature Communication and Science each published one study) and chemistry (Science once again).
