Once again, there was a great number of studies carried out by Italian research teams picked up by international scientific publications during the monitored period: in the month of February, some 54 articles were published in science journals, with the number of Italian researchers and research centers involved in these published works also remaining high.
The field most represented was yet again that of oncology (with 4 studies appearing in Oncogene, 4 in Leukemia, and 3 in the British Journal of Cancer). There were no fewer than 92 Italian researchers involved in these studies, from 11 research centers around the country.
Also of note is the number of papers published dealing with internal medicine (4 in Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and 1 in The American Journal of Gastroenterology), as well as cardiovascular physiopathology (2 studies in The EMBO Journal, and 2 in the Journal of Human Hypertension).
In addition to works in the areas of genetics (3 studies in the European Journal of Human Genetics) and biology (2 articles in Cell Death & Differentiation and 1 in Nature Cell Biology, representing the efforts of a total of 34 researchers), papers also appeared touching on other branches of medicine, including pediatrics (1 study in the Journal of Perinatology, 1 in Pediatric Research, and 1 in The Lancet, to which 18 researchers contributed overall) and antibiotic research (2 in The Journal of Antibiotics).
Finally, Italian research into the hard sciences was represented by 7 published articles, which saw the involvement of 68 of the country’s scientists.
