    The months of December and January again saw a good number of studies by Italian researchers picked up by the major international scientific journals, with 63 articles published involving the contribution of 596 scholars across 139 national research institutes. Publications in the field of oncology were yet again well-represented (11 studies by 118 researchers at 45 research centers), and appeared in specialist journals of the Lancet group, including The Lancet Oncology, and of the Nature group, such as Cell Death and Disease, Leukemia, and the British Journal of Cancer.

    Also picked up were studies in genetics (5 studies by 42 researchers at 6 centers) and neuroscience, with 4 articles involving the work of 18 scholars at 6 laboratories and university centers appearing in Cell Death and Disease and Neuropsychopharmacology.

    Readers’ attention is lastly drawn to an interview with Euro Beinat, Professor of  Geoinformatics and Data Science at the University of Salzburg, who explains to the Aspen Italia website team how big data could help to revive some of the key sectors of Italy’s economy.
