During the months of July and August, neurosciences and medicine recorded the greatest number of publications by Italian laboratories, with 64 articles involving 129 research centres.
Monitoring of the leading international scientific journals (Science, Nature, PNAS-Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, National Science Review and Scientific Reports, placed by SCImago Journal Rank in the top 5 for scientific impact) yielded 10 studies dedicated to biology published in Scientific Reports and PNAS and carried out with the contribution of the universities of Verona, Brescia, Chieri, Tuscia, San Raffaele, Rome – La Sapienza, Bologna, Milan, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Genoa, Perugia, as well as some CNR offices, Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Fondazione Santa Lucia di Roma, GSK Centre in Siena, IRCCS (Scientific Research and Health Care Institute) Istituto Neurologico Mediterraneo, Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, and Policlinico San Donato.
For the other medical disciplines (from oncology to cardiology, as well as genetics), 26 studies were published in Scientific Reports and PNAS. The laboratories involved are those of the universities of Rome (Sapienza, Tor Vergata), Milan (Statale, Bicocca and San Raffaele), Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Modena, Padua, Naples – Federico II, Salerno, Catanzaro – Magna Grecia, Insubria, Perugia, and Chieti. Also lending their collaboration were Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Fondazione Italiana per la ricerca sul Cancro, some CNR centres, IRCCS Mario Negri and IRCCS Galeazzi in Milan, as well as IRCCS San Gallicano in Rome.
