    In May, medicine, biology, and physics recorded the greatest number of publications by Italian laboratories, with 19 articles involving 43 research centres.

    Monitoring of the leading international scientific journals (Science, Nature, PNAS-Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, National Science Review, and Scientific Reports, placed by SCImago Journal Rank in the top 5 for scientific impact) yielded 7 studies dedicated to medicine published in Scientific Reports and developed with the contribution of the universities of Milan, Pavia, Florence, Siena, and Naples (Federico II and University of Campania), as well as IRCCS Fondazione Bietti (Rome), Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri (Milano), Fondazione Policlinico San Matteo (Pavia), and the A.O.U. (university hospital concern) Ospedale Santa Maria delle Scotte in Siena.

    On the other hand 5 articles have been dedicated to biology, published in Scientific Reports and developed with the contribution of the Universities Perugia, Ferrara, Bologna, Urbino-Carlo Bo, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Chieti, Pescara, and Teramo as well as Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Umbria e delle Marche, and Consorzio per il Centro Interuniversitario di Biologia Marina e Ecologia Applicata. In physics, 3 studies have been published in Scientific Reports. The laboratories involved are those of the Universities of Bologna, Modena, Perugia, and Palermo, as well as the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Etna Observatory).
