    Growth plans of business – While waiting for the new data on the Italian economy, the foreign press concentrated on growth strategies. Spotlights were pointed at the operation of Andrea Bonomi’s Investindustrial, which has acquired the B&B Italia, the first step, according to the Financial Times, in building an LVMH style luxury holding (June 16 – Bonomi has grand designs after B&B deal*). According to the Financial Times, Alitalia, also interested in Latina America, will start new flights to Mexico (Reuters, June 12 –  Italy’s Alitalia agrees to start flights to Mexico), with livery and cabin design (June 12 – Alitalia relaunches, unveiling a new livery and cabin designs

    There are not only investments abroad: the Washington Post, reported on the 1.5 billon euro project for the Rome stadium, planned by the soccer team’s American CEO James Pallotta (June 15 – Roma moves ahead on ambitious 1.5 billion euro stadium plan).

    Cuisine and the agrifood industry – As always, there is interest in the Italian agrifood sector. Wine tood front stage last week, with a discussion of the effervescence “Prosecco” (Le Monde, June 16 – Les pétillants italiens et espagnols en pleine effervescence*), which the Washington Post tasted in a tour of Veneto wine cellars (June 11 – It’s sparkler season: Touring Italy’s Prosecco Road). There was also interest in the bubbles of Franciacorta with an interview of wine profet Maurizio Zanella of Ca’ del Bosco which, according to Le Monde, produces the best Italian spumante (June 12 – Maurizio Zanella, le prophète du franciacorta). Instead, New York Times, traveled to Campania to discuss the potential of  Falanghina (June 11 – Tapping Into the Potential of Falanghina*).

    Concerning pasta, there was attention in the international growth of Barilla, which is planning to open a factory in northern Europe (Les Echos, June 16 – L’italien Barilla veut accélérer à l’international) and interest in the summer dishes of Italian cuisine proposed by the New York Times, June 12 – Fresh Ricotta Turns a Simple Pasta Dish Sublime*). Finally, according to Les Echos, Lavazza is increasing its marketing initiatives to celebrate its 120th year (June 16 – Lavazza met son café en scène tous azimuts ).

    Tourism and culture – Once again, the foreign press made a number of suggestions as to tourist destinations. El Mundo traveled to Milan, tracing the visit of Michelle Obama (June 17 – Clase de cocina, compras, un lujoso hotel, Da Vinci… El viaje de Michelle Obama en Milán), while the New York Times Magazine told its readers about the adventura of artist Mickalene Thomas in the cities of art (June 17 – Mickalene Thomas’s Adventures in Italy). Finally, Die Zeit, spoke about Riccione and its tourist attractions, free of charge (June 12 – Dolce für niente).

    Again, the New York Times visited Conegliano for the exhibition Vittore and Benedetto Carpaccio (June 18 – Puncturing the Myth of Carpaccio’s Waning Powers), while other papers reported on the new trains allowing tourist to reach Pompeii (The Sunday Times, June 14 – All aboard the Pompeii express*) and the renewal of the Fenice Opera House on the occasion of the Venice Biennale (Les Echos, June 12 – La Fenice se met à l’heure de la Biennale de Venise). There was also also interst in cultural events from Kuwait to Expo, (Kuwait News Agency, June 12 – Kuwaiti pavilion at Expo Milano to host 2 exciting events) and, finally, Le Monde, published a lengthy interview with physicist Carlo Rovelli (June 12  – Carlo Rovelli : « On ne voit jamais le temps, mais on voit les choses changer»*),
