The Executive Leadership seminars have been promoted in the United States since the early 1950s. Through the examination and discussion of texts by classical and contemporary authors, the debate unfolded over six sessions and four days. Participants focused on great universal values and their relationship with current events. The diversity of the group – in terms of geography, age, and profession – enriched the discussion, supporting the internationalization of leadership and cross-cultural dialogue, with the aim of identifying and promoting common ideas, knowledge, and interests. The seminars involved numerous young people from ten different countries, many of whom are Aspen Junior Fellows from Aspen Institute Italia or representatives from Aspen Institutes worldwide. Since 2007, 980 people from 43 countries have participated in these seminars.

The two distinct seminars, held concurrently, focused on the extraordinary changes that a twenty-first-century leader is called upon to interpret and manage:

The Aspen Institute Italia Seminar on Values and Society

This seminar focused on five key themes: human nature and society; tensions within society; differences between and within societies; the limits of rules; and leadership and civil society. The analysis of texts by contemporary authors like Vaclav Havel, Paul Rusesabagina, and Virginia Woolf prompted discussion on more recent challenges, highlighting their growing interdependence.
