Rome, 26 January 2023 \u2013 Aspen Institute Italia<\/b> and The Aspen Institute France<\/b> are organizing an international conference entitled \u201cItaly and France a year on from the Quirinale Treaty. Challenges of sovereignty and geopolitical challenges\u201d <\/i><\/b>at the French Embassy in Italy situated in Palazzo Farnese in Rome.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
The conference is to be held behind closed doors, but its aims and results will be illustrated in the course of a meeting with the press in the Sala Grand Camerino at Palazzo Farnese at 2.00 pm on Friday 3 February.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To attend the meeting with the press, would-be participants must apply for accreditation in writing to the Aspen Institute Italia\u2019s Ufficio Comunicazione e Media (by e-mail on https:\/\/form.123formbuilder.com\/6348436\/accredito-stampa <\/b>no later than 7.00 pm on Wednesday 1 February.<\/b><\/p>\n It will be possible to conduct interviews and briefings with individual figures taking part in the conference outside the conference\u2019s working hours by applying in writing to the Press Office.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The conference is to be chaired by Giulio<\/b>\u00a0Tremonti<\/b>, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Chamber of Deputies, Chairman of Aspen Institute Italia, and Jean-Luc Allavena<\/b>, President of The Aspen Institute France. The debate will address the goal of a sovereign Europe, the construction of strategic autonomy for the EU and the contribution that Italy and France can make to achieving that end. There will be a special focus on geopolitical challenges and how the two countries plan to tackle them, thus: Eastern Europe and the war in Ukraine; the future of relations with China; and the new challenges arising in the Mediterranean area. Participants will also be paying considerable attention to the energy transition and diversification, focusing in particular on the end of dependence on Russia and the new mix of sources.
