(<em>New York Times<\/em> went with &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/11\/26\/obituaries\/bernardo-bertolucci-dead.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bernardo Bertolucci, Director of \u2018Last Tango in Paris,\u2019 Dies at 77<\/a>) He was remembered as a key figure in the new wave of Italian cinema in the 60s (<em>The Guardian<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2018\/nov\/26\/bernardo-bertolucci-last-tango-in-paris-director-dies-aged-77\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bernardo Bertolucci, Last Tango in Paris director, dies aged 77<\/a>), whilst the article in the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/bernardo-bertolucci-director-of-last-tango-in-paris-dies-1543229600?mod=searchresults&amp;page=1&amp;pos=11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bernardo Bertolucci, Director of \u2018Last Tango in Paris,\u2019 Dies at 77<\/a>) remembered that he was the only Italian to win an Oscar for best film with his \u201cThe Last Emperor\u201d. Other papers revived other memories of him such as his search for aesthetic pleasure (<em>Lib\u00e9ration<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/next.liberation.fr\/cinema\/2018\/11\/26\/bertolucci-le-plaisir-esthetique-et-le-succes-ne-sont-pas-necessairement-de-droite_1694448\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BERTOLUCCI: \u00abLE PLAISIR ESTH\u00c9TIQUE ET LE SUCC\u00c8S NE SONT PAS N\u00c9CESSAIREMENT DE DROITE\u00bb<\/a>)<em>, <\/em><em>his transgression<\/em> (<em>Le Monde<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/disparitions\/article\/2018\/11\/26\/bernardo-bertolucci-le-cineaste-de-la-transgression-est-mort_5388681_3382.html?xtmc=italie&amp;xtcr=3\">Bernardo Bertolucci, le cin\u00e9aste de la transgression, est mort<\/a>; <em>Handelsblatt<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.handelsblatt.com\/arts_und_style\/kunstmarkt\/nachruf-bernardo-bertolucci-neun-oscars-und-ein-skandal\/23681652.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neun Oscars und ein Skandal<\/a>) and how he liked to polemicize (<em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/cultura\/2018\/11\/26\/actualidad\/1543240479_361543.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bernardo Bertolucci, de profesi\u00f3n polemista<\/a>.)<br \/>He was also remembered as the \u201cmaestro\u201d (<em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">El Mundo<\/em>, November 26 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/cultura\/cine\/2018\/11\/26\/5bfbb1d5268e3e5d438b45d2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Muere Bernardo Bertolucci, el gran maestro del cine<\/a>), calling him the \u201clast Emperor of Italian neo-realism (<em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">El Mundo<\/em>, November 26 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/cultura\/cine\/2018\/11\/26\/5bfc247ce5fdea4e348b464d.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italia despide a Bernardo Bertolucci, el &#8216;\u00faltimo emperador&#8217; del neorrealismo italiano<\/a>) and <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">El Pa\u00eds<\/em> commented that it was impossible to imagine the European film world without him (November 26 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/cultura\/2018\/11\/26\/actualidad\/1543231683_841176.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bernardo Bertolucci: la alegr\u00eda de filmar y de vivir<\/a>). A few papers used images to celebrate Bertolucci\u2019s work (<em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">El Pa\u00eds<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2018\/11\/26\/album\/1543224300_844502.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La vida de Bernardo Bertolucci, maestro del cine italiano, en im\u00e1genes<\/a>), as well as scenes from his films (<em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">El Pa\u00eds<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/cultura\/2018\/11\/26\/actualidad\/1543229737_550231.html\">Bertolucci, en ocho pel\u00edculas<\/a>) or even by remembering the most famous actresses to appear in them (<em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">El Mundo<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/loc\/celebrities\/2018\/11\/27\/5bfc4685e5fdea9e078b45b8.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Todas las mujeres de Bernardo Bertolucci<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Culture<\/strong> \u2013 There was also other news of a cultural nature. <strong>Luca Guadagnino<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> whose reputation for aesthetics and his choice of actors means that he is seen to be part of the fashion world, featured in an article (<em>Les Echos<\/em> November 23 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/weekend.lesechos.fr\/mode-et-beaute\/actualites\/0600189274198-luca-guadagnino-cineaste-fashion-2224267.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luca Guadagnino, cin\u00e9aste fashion<\/a>). The <em>New York Times<\/em> wrote about the success, in the US, of the TV adaptation of <strong>Elena Ferrante\u2019s<\/strong> \u201cMy Brilliant Friend\u201d (November 26 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/11\/26\/arts\/television\/my-brilliant-friend-elena-ferrante-hbo-new-actresses.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018My Brilliant Friend\u2019: A Fairy Tale of Youth Gives Way to Messy Adolescence<\/a>),whilst <em>El Mundo<\/em> featured Italian music in an interview with <strong>Eros Ramazzotti<\/strong> who still likes to sing \u201cromantic\u201d songs (November 26 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/papel\/historias\/2018\/11\/26\/5bf7ff51ca4741964f8b457c.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eros Ramazzotti: &#8220;No se puede comparar el &#8216;trap&#8217; con Queen, no va a perdurar&#8221;<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism and Food &amp; Wine \u2013 <\/strong><strong>Tuscany was in the spotlight this week, with <em>Les Echos<\/em>, writing about <\/strong><strong>Florence<\/strong><strong>, noting that it is not just a Renaissance museum, but it is also home to several important collections of modern and contemporary art (November 23 &#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/weekend.lesechos.fr\/voyages\/voyages\/0600189293736-escale-a-florence-2224261.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Escale \u00e0&#8230; Florence<\/a>) whilst another article in the same paper was all about the \u201cstraightening\u201d of <strong>Pisa\u2019s<\/strong> famous leaning tower &nbsp;(November 22 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/monde\/europe\/0600191596649-ca-se-passe-en-europe-la-tour-de-pise-se-redresse-2223873.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ca se passe en Europe&nbsp;: la Tour de Pise se redresse<\/a>).
