The <em>New York Times<\/em> explained how <strong>Kiko, <\/strong><strong>known for its \u201c<\/strong><strong>cheap but trendy\u201d cosmetics, is looking for investors that will support its \u201crapid growth\u201d on foreign markets (March 29 <\/strong>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2018\/03\/29\/business\/29reuters-italy-kiko-investor-interview.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interview-Italy&#8217;s Kiko CEO Says May Bring in New Investor to Fund Growth<\/a>*) whilst the <em>Financial Times<\/em> described how <strong>Intesa Sanpaolo<\/strong>, \u201cItaly\u2019s leading bank\u201d when it comes to capitalization, is also looking for a new partner as it plans to expand the asset management side of its business (April 1 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/b2dfb484-3588-11e8-8b98-2f31af407cc8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intesa Sanpaolo plans asset management merger<\/a>*). Meanwhile, the <em>New York Times<\/em> wrote about the determination of <strong>Pirelli\u2019s<\/strong> foreign investors to stay the course, convinced that its fortunes are on the rise (March 29 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2018\/03\/29\/business\/29reuters-pirelli-russia-ipo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pirelli&#8217;s Russian Shareholder LTI Plans to Stay After Lock-Up Period Ends<\/a>*), and Spain\u2019s <em>El Mundo<\/em>, wrote about Ebrofoods acquisition of 70% of <strong>Bertagni<\/strong>,&nbsp; Italy\u2019s oldest producer of \u201cfilled\/stuffed\u201d pasta (April 2 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/economia\/empresas\/2018\/04\/02\/5ac1fc15ca4741e4188b45a3.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ebro Foods adquiere el 70% de Bertagni, la marca de pasta rellena m\u00e1s antigua de Italia<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Architeture and design<\/strong> \u2013 Two articles on Italian style this week that featured famous architects, with <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Le Monde <\/em>running an interview with <strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Renzo Piano<\/strong>, who, 40 years after the success of his Pompidou centre is back in Paris to design the city\u2019s new Palace of Justice (April 3 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/architecture\/article\/2018\/03\/30\/renzo-piano-l-architecte-allume-les-consciences_5278815_1809550.html#EDKqV1pSxoz8qtLH.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Renzo Piano&nbsp;: \u00ab&nbsp;L\u2019architecte allume les consciences&nbsp;\u00bb<\/a>*) whilst it was \u201cvisionary architect\u201d, the Italian-Mexican, <strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Mario Pani <\/strong>responsible for the urban design of Mexico City, who featured in an article, in <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">El Pais<\/em> to mark the 107<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of his birth (March 31 &#8211; &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/internacional\/2018\/03\/29\/mexico\/1522318696_100415.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mario Pani, el visionario de la planificaci\u00f3n urban\u00edstica de Ciudad de M\u00e9xico<\/a>).<br \/><em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Les Echos<\/em> wrote about the artistic directors of Italy\u2019s leading design brands that included people as diverse as <strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Gio Ponti<\/strong> and <strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Patrizia Amoroso<\/strong> (April 5 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/serie-limitee\/art-de-vivre\/deco-design\/0301501663089-direction-artistique-le-dada-du-design-2166654.php#UmxGMWXr3yp4QVJP.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Direction artistique&nbsp;: le dada du design<\/a>).<br \/>A product symbolic of Italian style, the \u201cvespa\u201d was the focus of an article published in two different papers, that reported on the success vintage <strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Piaggio<\/strong> models are enjoying in Pakistan and described the scooter as the best present, after pizza, that Italy has given the world (April \u2013 <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">New York Times <\/em>&#8211; &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2018\/03\/29\/world\/asia\/29reuters-pakistan-vespa-widerimage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Labor of Love-Vintage Vespa Fans Cling to the Past in Pakistan<\/a>*; <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Reuters <\/em>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-pakistan-vespa\/labor-of-love-vintage-vespa-fans-cling-to-the-past-in-pakistan-idUSKBN1H50Q5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Labor of love: Vintage Vespa fans cling to the past in Pakistan<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Tourism<\/strong> featured several times this week, with two major US dailies, <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">New York Times and Washington Post<\/em><em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">, <\/em>running the same article, from the <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Associated Press,<\/em> that explored the opening of the <strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Giacomo Casanova Museum and Experience<\/strong> in the Palazzo Pesaro Papafava &nbsp;in Venice (<em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">New York Times<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2018\/03\/31\/world\/europe\/ap-eu-italy-casanova-museum.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy Museum Aims to Show Casanova as More Than Just a Lover<\/a>*; <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/viajes\/hoteles\/2018\/04\/05\/5ab8fe5f22601dbd5a8b45d8.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El hotel m\u00e1s atrevido de Mil\u00e1n que vuelve locos a Brad Pitt y Rihanna<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lake Garda<\/strong> &nbsp;was well represented &nbsp;with <em>El Pais Semanal<\/em>, publishing photos of a 17<sup>th<\/sup> century residence that has been transformed into a dream \u201ccountry home\u201d (March 28 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2018\/03\/22\/eps\/1521714468_041113.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Piel centenaria, una casa de campo de ensue\u00f1o en Italia<\/a>), and the <em>New York Times<\/em> described how the world\u2019s first \u201crobot concierge\u201d can be found in <strong>Peschiera del<\/strong> <strong>Garda <\/strong>&nbsp;(April 2 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2018\/04\/02\/world\/europe\/ap-eu-italy-travel-robots.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy&#8217;s Robot Concierge a Novelty on the Way to Better AI<\/a>*).<br \/>Then Gardone Riviera was the starting point for <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Bloomberg\u2019s <\/em><em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">video report that also featured <\/em>&nbsp;the latest model of Maserati\u2019s Levante SUV as it made its way around some of the&nbsp; lake\u2019s many winding roads (March 28 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/videos\/2018-03-28\/travelling-through-gardone-riviera-video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Travelling through Gardone Riviera<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">Food &amp; Drink <\/strong>&nbsp;featured in the American press this week following the death of &nbsp;Andrew Balducci \u201cthe pioneer of gourmet Italian food in New York, (March 30 in both the <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Wall Street Journal<\/em> &#8211; &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/APcac9ea19ba87405081c77f55af60c759?mod=searchresults&amp;page=1&amp;pos=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian gourmet grocery pioneer Andrew Balducci dies at 92<\/a>* and&nbsp; the <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Washington Post<\/em> respectively &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/obituaries\/italian-gourmet-grocery-pioneer-andrew-balducci-dies-at-92\/2018\/03\/30\/9c24b53c-3457-11e8-b6bd-0084a1666987_story.html?utm_term=.0b968546600b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian gourmet grocery pioneer Andrew Balducci dies at 92<\/a>*). The <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">New York Times<\/em> &nbsp;also wrote about <strong style=\"font-style: normal;\">white wines<\/strong> from the Etna district in Sicily (March 29 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/03\/29\/dining\/drinks\/wine-school-assignment-etna-bianco.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Your Next Lesson: Etna Bianco<\/a>*), &nbsp;whilst <em style=\"font-weight: normal;\">El Mundo<\/em> explored various Italian products&nbsp; it said was made with a \u201crigour and seriousness\u201d&nbsp; that Spain could learn from (April 2 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/metropoli\/elmundovino\/2018\/04\/02\/5ac1571b46163f365d8b45b9.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cata de la semana: Italia<\/a>).
