For <em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em> it was the figurative arts and the exhibition in Conegliano (Veneto) dedicated to G<strong>iovanni Bellini<\/strong> and his disciples that highlights the Renaissance Master\u2019s \u201csensual revolution\u201d (March 29 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/cultura.elpais.com\/cultura\/2017\/03\/27\/actualidad\/1490633720_744206.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La sensual revoluci\u00f3n de Giovanni Bellini<\/a>). For the <em>New York Times<\/em>, however, it was all about the Uffizi and the exhibition of treasures saved from last year\u2019s earthquake in central Italy (April 1 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2017\/04\/01\/world\/europe\/ap-eu-italy-uffizi-quake-exhibit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uffizi Gallery Shows Treasures Saved From Last Year&#8217;s Quakes<\/a>*).<\/p>\n<p>Literature also occupied a few column inches, with a piece, in the <em>New York Times<\/em> about the American TV series based on the novels of <strong>Elena Ferrante<\/strong> (March 30 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/03\/30\/business\/media\/elena-ferrante-series-coming-to-hbo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elena Ferrante Series Coming to HBO<\/a>*), whilst Austria\u2019s <em>Der Standard<\/em> opted to write about the latest runaway success to be published by <strong>Luca D\u2019Andreas<\/strong>, the writer from South Tyrol (April 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/derstandard.at\/2000055186655\/Luca-DAndreas-Der-Tod-so-kalt-Die-Schrecken-der-Berge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luca D&#8217;Andreas &#8220;Der Tod so kalt&#8221;: Die Schrecken der Berge<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><em>Le Monde<\/em> focused on the theater with an article about Italian choreographer <strong>Alessandro Sciarroni\u2019s<\/strong> latest show now entertaining Paris (April 5 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/scenes\/article\/2017\/04\/05\/danse-alessandro-sciarroni-dans-le-tourbillon-de-la-vie_5106107_1654999.html?xtmc=italie&amp;xtcr=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alessandro Sciarroni dans le tourbillon de la vie<\/a>*). Meanwhile, <em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em> ran a piece remembering Italian political expert, <strong>Giovanni Sartori<\/strong>, who \u201cgave us the tools we need to assimilate all the complexities\u201d (April 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2017\/04\/04\/opinion\/1491329001_777259.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sartori, el otro florentino<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism<\/strong> \u2013 As always a popular subject in the international press, this week <strong>Milan<\/strong> found itself in the spotlight in several articles prompted by the <strong>International Furniture Show<\/strong> it is hosting. The <em>Financial Times<\/em> wrote about the various design installations that have appeared in the city as a result of the show (March 31 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/0aacd0a8-159a-11e7-b0c1-37e417ee6c76\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Milan Design: Sense and spirituality<\/a>*) and the <em>New York Times Style Magazine<\/em> featured 144 of the city\u2019s spectacular\u201d entryways to some of its buildings, commenting that anyone who thinks the city is a cement jungle has obviously never looked behind its closed doors (April 4 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/04\/04\/t-magazine\/design\/milan-entryways-doors-karl-kolbitz.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Milan\u2019s Most Beautiful Entryways<\/a>). <em>Die Zeit<\/em> was keen to point out that Italy\u2019s financial capital has been reborn thanks to the arrival of artists, designers and architects from all over the world(April 7 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zeit.de\/zeit-magazin\/2017\/15\/mailand-architektur-design-kunst-aufschwung\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aufsteiger<\/a>*). The <em>Washington Post<\/em> on the other hand told its readers all about Italy\u2019s first tulip field where people can pick their own flowers, just as they do in Holland (March 30 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/lifestyle\/home\/dutch-tulips-spring-to-life-in-italy-at-pick-your-own-farm\/2017\/03\/30\/abc80fb0-1564-11e7-bb16-269934184168_story.html?utm_term=.423212915166\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dutch tulips spring to life in Italy at \u2018pick your own\u2019 farm<\/a>*).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sicily <\/strong>also got a mention, with Morocco\u2019s financial paper, <em>L\u2019Economiste<\/em> offering the view, that it can happily compete with other tourist destinations in the Mediterranean area as it combines sea, culture and enjoyment (April 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leconomiste.com\/article\/1010534-la-sicile-un-concurrent-serieux-pour-la-costa-d-el-sol\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Sicile, un concurrent s\u00e9rieux pour la Costa d\u2019El Sol<\/a>). Meantime the <em>New York Times<\/em> was in <strong>Valenza Po,<\/strong> a city known for its goldsmithing tradition, &nbsp;to visit one of the world\u2019s largest jewelry studios, recently opened there by <strong>Bulgari <\/strong>(March 30 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/03\/30\/fashion\/jewelry-bulgari.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bulgari Creates a New Jewelry-Making Center<\/a>*).<\/p>\n<p><em>El Mundo<\/em>, on the other hand was in <strong>Rome <\/strong>to find out about how work on the new metro line led to the discovery of the world\u2019s oldest aqueduct (April 5 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/cultura\/2017\/04\/04\/58e37cbb468aeba76e8b4639.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discubren en Roma el acueducto m\u00e1s antiguo del mundo<\/a>). Ancient Rome is also the setting of the latest book about the adventures of French cartoon heroes, Asterix and Obelix, reviewed by various foreign papers who reveal, this time, the dynamic duo set off on a long journey across Italy. (April 5 in <em>Le Nouvel Observateur<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/bibliobs.nouvelobs.com\/bd\/20170405.OBS7600\/adieu-les-sangliers-bonjour-les-pizzas-asterix-et-obelix-vont-explorer-l-italie.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adieu les sangliers, bonjour les pizzas : Ast\u00e9rix et Ob\u00e9lix vont explorer l&#8217;Italie<\/a>; <em>Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung <\/em>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faz.net\/aktuell\/feuilleton\/neuer-band-des-klassikers-asterix-reist-nach-italien-14958915.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Asterix reist nach Italien<\/a>; <em>Sueddeutsche Zeitung<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sueddeutsche.de\/news\/wirtschaft\/medien-obelix-steigt-zum-helden-auf-dpa.urn-newsml-dpa-com-20090101-170405-99-957685\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Obelix steigt zum Helden auf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Food<\/strong> <strong>&amp; Drink<\/strong>\u2013 With Easter just around the corner, food related articles are an inevitability. <em>The Guardian<\/em> provided its readers with a recipe for a \u201cmagnificent\u201d, traditional Easter pie (April 4 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/2017\/apr\/04\/spinach-herb-and-ricotta-pie-recipe-rachel-roddy-torta-pasqualina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Recipe for an Italian Easter: egg, spinach and ricotta pie<\/a>), and <em>Frankfurter Allegmeine Zeitung<\/em> wrote about Faenza\u2019s traditional \u201cpassatelli\u201d type pasta (April 1 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faz.net\/aktuell\/stil\/essen-trinken\/regionale-spezialitaet-passatelli-nudeln-aus-faenza-14953149.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nudeln aus Faenza<\/a>). Meantime <em>Der Standard<\/em> set about describing the original recipe for traditional Genoese pesto (April 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/derstandard.at\/2000055250255\/Pesto-alla-Genovese-mit-Baerlauch-Pesto-perfetto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pesto alla Genovese mit B\u00e4rlauch: Pesto perfetto<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lambrusco<\/strong>, one of Italy\u2019s ever popular wines was described as \u201cjoyous and delicious\u201d in an article in the <em>New York Times<\/em> (March 30 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/03\/30\/dining\/wine-school-assignment-lambrusco.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Your Next Lesson: Lambrusco<\/a>*) and then the same paper went on to explain how mortadella with truffles is about to take the US by storm (April 3 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/04\/03\/dining\/golfera-truffled-mortadella.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How Do You Improve Upon Mortadella? Add Truffles<\/a>). <em>Die Welt<\/em> described how the US market is one of the reasons for the success currently enjoyed by <strong>Segafredo-Zanetti,<\/strong> the brand of coffee that Donald Trump chooses to serve in all his hotels (April 4 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welt.de\/wirtschaft\/article163368587\/Trumps-Kaffeeroester-hat-keine-Angst-vor-Starbucks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trumps Kaffeer\u00f6ster hat keine Angst vor Starbucks<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>*Article available for pay \/ at registration&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Culture<\/strong> \u2013 Italian culture has attracted the most interest in the foreign press this week.
