The <em>New York Times<\/em> wrote about the overseas success achieved by <strong>Silvia Avanzi<\/strong> and her <em>made in<\/em> <em>Italy<\/em> brand artisanal shoes (November 7 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/11\/07\/t-magazine\/fashion\/gray-matters-shoes-silvia-avanzi.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brand to Know: Simple Architectural Heels, Made in Italy<\/a>*). <em>Reuters<\/em> ran an article about <strong>Poste Italiane\u2019s<\/strong> increased profits (November 9 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/poste-italiane-results-idUSI6N1D300V\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Poste Italiane 9-mth operating profit rises on insurance growth<\/a>) &nbsp;whereas the <em>New York Times<\/em> explained how <strong>Milan <\/strong>is hoping to attract UK based foreign businesses adversely effected by Brexit (November 9 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2016\/11\/09\/business\/09reuters-britain-eu-milan.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Milan Wants to Lure Asian and Gulf Firms Fleeing Brexit<\/a>*).<\/p>\n<p>News from the automobile sector took up many column inches this week, the <em>Washington Post<\/em> and the <em>Financial Times<\/em> wrote about Ferrari\u2019s record profits and new objectives (November 7 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/ferrari-raises-forecasts-after-record-third-quarter-earnings\/2016\/11\/07\/f6f5b080-a4f0-11e6-ba46-53db57f0e351_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ferrari raises forecasts after record third-quarter earnings<\/a>*; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/a035e9e4-aebe-3a2a-81a4-9ca3c40124db\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ferrari shares race ahead on profits beat<\/a>*). Meantime <em>die Welt <\/em>and the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> focused on <strong>Alfa Romeo<\/strong> and the \u201ccome back\u201d it is witnessing thanks to its latest models and new-look designs (November 4 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welt.de\/motor\/news\/article159255232\/Alfa-Romeo-Chefdesigner-Alessandro-Maccolini.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alfa Romeo Chefdesigner Alessandro Maccolini<\/a>; November 3 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/2017-alfa-romeo-giulia-review-an-awesome-reboot-1478189997\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Review: An Awesome Reboot<\/a>*). Spain\u2019s <em>Expansi\u00f3n<\/em> on the other hand, chose to write about the new and exclusive driving course for women introduced by <strong>Maserati<\/strong> (November 7 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.expansion.com\/fueradeserie\/motor\/2016\/11\/07\/581c8b4a468aebed668b4613.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maserati crea un exclusivo curso de conducci\u00f3n s\u00f3lo para mujeres<\/a>). The FCA group was also the subject of an article in <em>Bloomberg, <\/em>that explored how <strong>New Holland\u2019s<\/strong> agricultural machinery is used in the Antinori vineyards in Tuscany (November 8 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2016-11-08\/italian-vineyards-finally-use-tractors-to-pick-grapes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agnelli Clan Drags Italian Vineyards Into the 21st Century<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leading figures from the worlds of fashion &amp; design: <\/strong>Three such people featured this week. The <em>Financial Times<\/em> ran a profile on <strong>Alessandro Sartori, <\/strong>Zegna\u2019s artistic director and the man attributed with the ability to take men\u2019s suits into the modern world (November 10 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/6b16afb0-75b1-11e6-bf48-b372cdb1043a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Can this man save the suit?<\/a>*). <strong>Lapo Elkann, <\/strong>the founder of Italia Independent<strong>,<\/strong> his take on generosity and his \u201ccrusade on creativity\u201d was the subject chosen by <em>Les Echos <\/em>(November 10 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/archives.lesechos.fr\/archives\/2016\/SerieLimitee\/00158-019-SLI.htm?texte=italie#Ec6cpx2wZYlAtRaK.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00abLa g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 est la cl\u00e9 de notre futur\u00bb LAPO ELKANN<\/a>*), whilst the <em>Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung<\/em> dedicated an article to the architect and designer, <strong>Michele De Lucchi<\/strong> (November 8 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faz.net\/aktuell\/stil\/mode-design\/designer-michele-de-lucchi-will-weiter-die-welt-verbessern-14510539.html?printPagedArticle=true#pageIndex_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Il Maestro und sein Bleistift<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Culture<\/strong> \u2013 This week\u2019s articles of a cultural nature included one in <em>le Monde<\/em> that was in <strong>Turin <\/strong>&nbsp;for the contemporary art event that \u201crevisits the past\u201d (November 7 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/arts\/article\/2016\/11\/07\/a-turin-artissima-revisite-le-passe_5026491_1655012.html?xtmc=italie&amp;xtcr=12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Turin, Artissima revisite le pass\u00e9<\/a>*) and the other in <em>el Pa\u00eds<\/em> that was in Bologna, for the most important children\u2019s book fair of all \u2013 the <strong>Fiera del Libro <\/strong>&#8211;<strong> <\/strong>to talk about the 59 Catalonian illustrators in attendance (November 8 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/ccaa.elpais.com\/ccaa\/2016\/11\/08\/catalunya\/1478641588_024953.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Feria de Bolonia \u2018dibujar\u00e1\u2019 en catal\u00e1n<\/a>). For <em>el Mundo<\/em>, however, it was the films of <strong>Valeria Bruni<\/strong> featuring in the Festival of European Cinema being held in Seville that were of interest (November 9 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/andalucia\/sevilla\/2016\/11\/09\/58236281e2704efb658b4574.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Las visiones (familiares) de Valeria Bruni<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism<\/strong> \u2013 Italy\u2019s three most significant volcanoes \u2013 <strong>Etna, Vesuvius and Stromboli<\/strong> &#8211; were the subject of an article in the <em>Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung<\/em> (November 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faz.net\/aktuell\/reise\/vulkane-in-italien-reise-zu-vesuv-aetna-und-stromboli-14503739.html?printPagedArticle=true#pageIndex_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trio Infernale<\/a>) and the same paper was in Alto Adige to explore the magic of the region\u2019s mountains (November 9 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faz.net\/aktuell\/reise\/kaminglimmen-mit-alpenglut-zu-gast-in-einer-lodge-auf-der-seiser-alm-14508112.html?printPagedArticle=true#pageIndex_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaminglimmen mit Alpenglut<\/a>).
