Still on the subject of music <em>The Guardian <\/em>featured an all-encompassing interview with the composer <strong>Ennio Morricone <\/strong>(May 14 &#8211; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/2016\/may\/14\/ennio-morricone-this-much-i-know\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ennio Morricone: \u2018I don\u2019t know the names of any pop musicians<\/a>\u2019<\/span>) whilst <em>El Mundo<\/em> chose to dedicate an article to an Italian literary great, the \u201cdiabolic and divine\u201d writer, <strong>Gabriele<\/strong> <strong>D\u2019Annunzio<\/strong> (May 16 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/cultura\/2016\/05\/16\/57388d9be2704e46358b462a.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Gabriele D&#8217;Annunzio, amor cannibal<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Style<\/strong> \u2013 Italian style &nbsp;&#8211; design in particular &#8211; was back in the news again, with <em>Le Monde<\/em> dropping in at the <strong>Bottega Veneta\u2019s<\/strong> \u201catelier of the future\u201d (May 12 &#8211; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspeninstitute.it\/#ywJSrU3u4vzHLidZ.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dans l\u2019atelier du futur de Bottega Veneta<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/m-mode\/article\/2016\/05\/12\/dans-l-atelier-du-futur-de-bottega-veneta_4918501_4497335.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">)<\/a><\/span> and the Spanish daily, <em>Expansi\u00f3n, <\/em>published an interview with <strong>Pietro Lissoni<\/strong>, the artistic director of Boffi &#8211; De Padova, the luxury kitchen, bathroom and furniture brand \u201cas much admired as it copied\u201d (May 12 &#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.expansion.com\/fueradeserie\/arquitectura\/2016\/05\/12\/573313cb468aeb180f8b45d6.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <\/a><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.expansion.com\/fueradeserie\/arquitectura\/2016\/05\/12\/573313cb468aeb180f8b45d6.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Piero Lissoni: el arquitecto sin WhatsApp que afirma que el pl\u00e1stico puede ser ecol\u00f3gico<\/a>)<\/span>. Interior architecture also featured in <em>Bloomberg, <\/em>in a photographic piece all about the Milan home of <strong>Romeo Sozzi <\/strong>(May 18 &#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/photo-essays\/2016-05-18\/inside-the-milan-apartment-of-furniture-designer-romeo-sozzi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> Inside the Home of the World\u2019s Most Expensive Furniture Designer<\/span><\/a>). An earlier article by the same press agency concentrated instead on the auto sector, in a review of the new, and \u201clong-awaited\u201d <strong>Alfa Romeo<\/strong> Giulia (May 14 &#8211; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2016-05-13\/alfa-romeo-finally-ready-to-rev-up-its-510-horsepower-bmw-killer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alfa Romeo&#8217;s 510-Horsepower BMW Killer<\/a> <\/span>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism<\/strong> \u2013 The approaching summer season means there is no shortage of articles on this sector. <em>The Washington Post<\/em> rediscovered <strong>Milan\u2019s<\/strong> old trams (May 16 &#8211; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/europe\/ap-photos-125-vintage-trams-evoke-bygone-era-in-milan\/2016\/05\/16\/174ea71a-1b7b-11e6-82c2-a7dcb313287d_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">125 vintage trams evoke bygone era in Milan<\/a><\/span>), whilst <em>Reuters<\/em> centered on the historic town of Cremona to find out about the challenges facing the producers of stringed instruments (May 16 &#8211; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-italy-violins-idUSKCN0Y322K\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy&#8217;s violin-makers struggle to hit profitable note<\/a><\/span>), but it was the Tuscan section of the world-famous Giro d\u2019Italia that inspired <em>el Pa\u00eds<\/em> to write about the most popular cycling trails in <strong>Chianti <\/strong>(May 16 &#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/deportes.elpais.com\/deportes\/2016\/05\/15\/actualidad\/1463328716_939294.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <\/a><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/deportes.elpais.com\/deportes\/2016\/05\/15\/actualidad\/1463328716_939294.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los favoritos pedalean juntitos bajo la lluvia del Chianti<\/a>)<\/span>. However, much further south, in Apulia, <em>the New York Times<\/em> recommends a stay in a lovely 16<sup>th<\/sup> century farmhouse (May 12 &#8211; 8 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/05\/15\/travel\/new-hotels-london-amsterdam.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Hotels That Feel Like Home. Only Better<\/a><\/span>*).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Food <\/strong>\u2013 This week much of <em>The Guardian\u2019s<\/em> food section was taken up with its guide to Italian food. The English paper ran a piece on Eleonora Galasso\u2019s cookery book \u201cAs the Romans do\u201d (May 13 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/2016\/may\/15\/eleanora-galasso-roman-recipes-bucatini-clams-vegetable-tortino\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Eleonora Galasso\u2019s Roman recipes: five Italian classics<\/span><\/a>), and in another piece it offers a few tips, on how to reduce the calories in traditional Italian dishes (May 13 &#8211;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/2016\/may\/13\/a-lighter-way-to-enjoy-italian-recipes-by-anna-jones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A lighter way to enjoy Italian recipes by Anna Jones<\/a><\/span>).
