Economy <\/strong>\u2013 New stock exchange listings and international growth plans make the news as the foreign press covers Italian economic affairs again this week: Bloomberg<\/em> reports on the Technogym<\/strong> public offering, explaining that the Italian \u201cOlympic supplier\u201d will list at least one quarter of its stake (April 4 – Technogym Investor Plans Stake Sale of at Least 25% in Milan IPO<\/a>); on the other hand, Les Echos <\/em>and Reuters<\/em> recount the privatization plans and the future stock exchange listing of Enav<\/strong> (April 4 – L’Italie pr\u00eate \u00e0 engager la privatisation partielle de son contr\u00f4le a\u00e9rien<\/a>*; April 6 – Italy’s ENAV files request to list on Milan bourse<\/a>). Positive stock exchange results were also enjoyed by Yoox<\/strong>, a company that has made itself the \u201cworldwide Amazon of luxury\u201d thanks to integration with France\u2019s Net-a-Porter. Les Echos<\/em> reports on this while profiling its CEO Federico Marchetti<\/strong> (April 1 – Federico Marchetti, le geek de la mode en ligne<\/a>*).<\/p>\n

Another success story on international markets is Ferrero<\/strong>, which saw sales increase by 13.4% in 2015, as Spain\u2019s Expansion <\/em>reports (April 5 – Ferrero Internacional aument\u00f3 sus ventas en un 13,4% en 2015<\/a>). Also covering the Piemontese company is die Welt<\/em>, which relates the Nutella \u201clegend\u201d taking hold on the German market (April 4 – Wie Nutella und Duplo zu deutschen Legenden wurden<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Also under the spotlight is the Italian private equity firm 21 Investimenti, to which Bloomberg <\/em>dedicates an article starting from the managerial choices of its founder Alessandro Benetton<\/strong> (April 6 – Benetton Heir Alessandro Goes It Alone With Private Equity Firm<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Culture<\/strong> \u2013Cultural coverage in international newspapers is concentrated on Rome and Milan. In the capital, the Spanish dailies El Pa\u00eds<\/em> and El Mundo<\/em> recount \u201cthe multimedia journey into the work of Caravaggio<\/strong>,\u201d which may be visited at Rome\u2019s Palazzo delle Esposizioni di Roma (El Mundo<\/em>, April 3 – Caravaggio, \u00a1qu\u00e9 subid\u00f3n!<\/a>; El Pais<\/em>, April 4 – Las luces de Caravaggio<\/a>). In Lombardy\u2019s capital, Financial Times<\/em> reviews La Cena delle Beffe<\/em>, being staged at La<\/strong> Scala<\/strong> (April 5 – La cena delle beffe, La Scala, Milan \u2014 \u2018Oozes atmosphere\u2019<\/a>*) and reports on how the new director of Brera Pinacoteca<\/strong>, James Bradburne, “is transforming one of the world\u2019s greatest collections of Renaissance art” (April 1 – Shaking up Milan\u2019s Pinacoteca di Brera<\/a>*). Lastly, Le Monde<\/em> reviews Alessandro Baricco\u2019s The Young Bride (April 7 – Alessandro Baricco \u00e0 la noce<\/a>). <\/strong><\/p>\n

Design<\/strong> \u2013Milan is getting ready for Salone del mobile<\/strong>, a fair that always garners a great deal of attention from the foreign press. On the eve of the event, Financial Times<\/em> visits the studios of some masters of industrial design – Achille Castiglioni, Franco Albini and Vico Magistretti \u2013 who are back in the city and a source of inspiration for young designers (April 1 – The Milan studios of three founding fathers of Italian design<\/a>*).<\/p>\n

The New York Times Magazine<\/em>, on the other hand, tells the story of another great designer, Renzo Mongiardino, the \u201carchitect of illusion,\u201d with \u201ca scholar\u2019s erudition and an artist\u2019s imagination\u201d (April 6 – Renzo Mongiardino, the Architect of Illusion<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The American daily continues to cover design \u2013 but this time, the jewellery sector \u2013 as it tells the story of Buccellati<\/strong> and the company\u2019s traditional techniques that “haven\u2019t changed since the Renaissance “(March 31 – At Buccellati, Elegance Forever<\/a>*). Lastly, the Spanish press covers automotive style as it road tests Maserati\u2019s<\/strong> new \u201cluxury SUV,\u201d the Levante, a real \u201cwager\u201d by the House of the Trident (El Mundo<\/em>, April 1 – in Al volante del Maserati Levante<\/a>; Expansion<\/em> – Conducimos el Maserati Levante, duro rival del Porsche Cayenne<\/a><\/p>\n

In memory of Cesare Maldini<\/strong> \u2013 Numerous foreign papers have dedicated extensive coverage to the death of Cesare Maldini, former captain of Milan and coach of the Italian National Team (The Washington Post, <\/em>April 3 – Former Milan captain and Italy coach Cesare Maldini dies<\/a>; Bloomberg<\/em> – Former Italy Soccer Coach Cesare Maldini Dies, AC Milan Says<\/a>; Le Monde<\/em> – Cesare Maldini une vie en rouge et noir (et en bleu)<\/a>; New York Times<\/em> – Cesare Maldini, Who Led A.C.
