The American multi-national has signed agreements that will boost its oil&amp;gas activities in Tuscany is news that has spiked the interest of various international newspapers including, on January 29, the <em>New York Times<\/em> with an article headed &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2016\/01\/29\/business\/29reuters-ge-italy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General Electric to Invest Well Over 500 Mln Euros in Italy-Sources<\/a>* whilst on January 31, <em>Reuters<\/em> went with &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-ge-italy-idUSKCN0V90XX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General Electric signs $600 million investment deal in Italy<\/a>, but on February 2, also found space to write about other possible investments in Italy, and in particular, the interest shown by Qatar Airways in the Italian airline, <strong>Meridiana <\/strong>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/italy-airline-qatar-airways-idUSL8N15H1UR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy&#8217;s Meridiana meeting on future amid Qatar Airways talk<\/a>. A day later, on February 3, <em>Les Echos<\/em> focused on another kind of investment, namely government bonds, shining the spotlight on the recent record making public sale of 30 year (Italian) bonds &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/finance-marches\/marches-financiers\/021667374791-litalie-bat-des-records-pour-son-emission-de-dette-a-30-ans-1197150.php?rLVM7xLtiywkJ9EW.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">L&#8217;Italie bat des records pour son \u00e9mission de dette \u00e0 30 ans<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The foreign press also turned its attention towards Italian investments abroad, with <em>Reuters<\/em> writing, on February 1, about <strong>Lavazza<\/strong> being ready to shortly close the deal to buy the French coffee group, Carte Noire for 750 billion Euros &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/cartenoire-ma-lavazza-idUSI6N15302N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lavazza to seal 750 mln euro Carte Noire buy this month -sources<\/a> following this up, a day later, with a piece about the engineering concern, <strong>Trevi<\/strong> that is about to sign up to be part of the team to repair the dam in Mosul, Iraq &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/mideast-crisis-iraq-dam-idUSL8N15H4H3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy&#8217;s Trevi to sign Mosul dam repair contract in coming weeks<\/a>. Yet more column inches were taken up with the increasing presence of yacht maker Ferretti on international markets as it targets both Asia and the Middle East, with two articles on February 3 appearing in the <em>Financial Times<\/em> and <em>Reuters<\/em>, respectively headed <strong>&#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/fastft\/2016\/02\/03\/yacht-maker-ferretti-targets-security-market\/\">Yacht-maker Ferretti targets security market<\/a> and<em> <\/em>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/ferretti-defence-idUSL8N15I3AR\">Italian yacht maker Ferretti creates defence and security unit<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism <\/strong>\u2013 featured in many articles this week, with the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> writing, on January 29, about some of the projects behind the relaunching of Rome\u2019s ancient sea port, <strong>Ostia Antica<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/in-ostia-a-search-for-the-secrets-of-romes-port-1454089086\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In Ostia, a Search for the Secrets of Rome\u2019s Port<\/a>* and on February 1, in its \u201chome of the day\u201d column, featuring a villa with views over the <strong>Umbrian hills<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/a-farmhouse-under-the-umbrian-sun-1454324876\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Farmhouse Under the Umbrian Sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Britain\u2019s<em> The Times<\/em>, always happy to talk about holiday destinations in Italy, published a guide, in its hefty Sunday edition of January 31, on how to spend \u201csix sublime weeks in six of the most beautiful parts of Italy\u201d &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesundaytimes.co.uk\/sto\/travel\/Destinations\/Europe\/Italy\/article1661832.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The classic Italian regions, done to perfection<\/a>*, in which it paid particular attention to somewhere bound to be a \u201crevelation\u201d to British tourists as <strong>Ravenna<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesundaytimes.co.uk\/sto\/travel\/Destinations\/Europe\/Italy\/article1661757.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Revelation in Ravenna<\/a>* and the nation\u2019s Slow Food Capital <strong>Bra<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesundaytimes.co.uk\/sto\/travel\/Destinations\/Europe\/Italy\/article1661764.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bra: slowly does it<\/a>*. On January 30, France\u2019s <em>Lib\u00e9ration<\/em> advised that visiting underground <strong>Naples <\/strong>is a must, proceeding to describe a journey of discovery through the city\u2019s numerous tunnels in search of \u201chidden treasure\u201d &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liberation.fr\/voyages\/2016\/01\/29\/naples-tout-le-monde-descend_1429912\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naples, tout le monde descend<\/a>, whilst on February 1, the <em>Sueddeutsche Zeitung <\/em>focused its attention on the <strong>Venice<\/strong> carnival &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sueddeutsche.de\/reise\/karneval-in-venedig-dolce-lisa-1.2843695\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dolce Lisa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fashion and Style<\/strong> \u2013 Fashion featured this week in an article, on February 1 in <em>The Times<\/em>&nbsp; that described the truly <em>haute couture <\/em>event involving <strong>Dolce&amp;Gabbana <\/strong>at the Scala in Milan &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/tto\/life\/fashion\/article4679197.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Scala a fitting venue for fashion<\/a>, whilst another, on January 29 in <em>Les Echos<\/em> celebrated the 120 years that <strong>Berluti<\/strong> has been dressing its clients from head to toe &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/week-end\/mode-et-beaute\/actualites\/021653191818-berluti-des-pieds-a-la-tete-1196238.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Berluti, des pieds \u00e0 la t\u00eate<\/a>. &nbsp;
