On January 15, <em>Bloomberg Business<\/em> wrote about the streets of Florence being turned into temporary runways &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2016-01-15\/pitti-uomo-89-sees-statement-coats-filling-florence-s-streets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement Coats Fill Florence\u2019s Streets at Pitti Uomo<\/a>, whilst two days later, <em>El Pais<\/em> focused on the atmosphere filling the Milan air between one show and the next &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2016\/01\/17\/icon\/1453022484_969580.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mil\u00e1n, d\u00eda 1: No es raro, es normal<\/a>, which it followed up with another piece on January 18 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2016\/01\/18\/icon\/1453109113_910933.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mil\u00e1n d\u00eda 2: Postre, caf\u00e9 y puro<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Other papers chose to feature just one fashion label at a time. <strong>Cavalli <\/strong>was the choice of the <em>Financial Times <\/em>on January 16 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/next.ft.com\/content\/15976cd4-bbd8-11e5-bf7e-8a339b6f2164\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roberto Cavalli AW16 show report Milan Menswear<\/a>* whilst on January 18 it was the \u201cSicilian western\u201d style of <strong>Dolce e Gabbana <\/strong>&nbsp;that caught the attention of <em>Les Echos<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/week-end\/mode-et-beaute\/defiles\/021627833310-fashion-week-dolce-gabbana-en-mode-western-1193208.php?kmepechBAOdxKdeY.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fashion Week : Dolce &amp; Gabbana en mode western<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fashion was not the only aspect of Italy\u2019s luxury sector to appear this week, and on January 17 the <em>Financial Times <\/em>printed its interview with the CEO of <strong>Bulgari<\/strong> on the future of the group famous for its jewelry and luxury goods &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/next.ft.com\/content\/25ed4eea-9a87-11e5-a5c1-ca5db4add713\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Interview: Jean-Christophe Babin, Bulgari chief executive<\/a>* and on January 19, the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> wrote about a very particular property deal in which the 15 million dollar price tag for a loft in Florida also includes a trip to Italy and a meeting with <strong>Giorgio Armani<\/strong> who was responsible for its interior design &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/an-armani-designed-penthouse-comes-with-a-trip-to-meet-the-designer-1453222188\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">An Armani-Designed Penthouse Comes With a Trip to Meet the Designer<\/a>*. Interior design was also the subject that interested Spain\u2019s <em>Expansion<\/em> on January 19 in a piece on <strong>Flexform<\/strong> as a symbol of a<em> made in Italy<\/em> brand that stands for \u201cquality, prestige and a smidgen of informality &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.expansion.com\/fueradeserie\/arquitectura\/2016\/01\/19\/569b8ecce2704e1e258b4586.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FLEXFORM Interiorismo &#8216;made in Italy&#8217;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leading figures <\/strong>\u2013 Several of Italy\u2019s leading personalities featured in articles and interviews this week, with one of the \u201cmasters of Italian cinema\u201d, <strong>Ettore Scala<\/strong> occupying more column inches than others as many of the world\u2019s dailies marked his death by remembering his career. The <em>New York Times<\/em> ran pieces on both January 19 and 20 headed &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2016\/01\/19\/world\/europe\/ap-eu-italy-obit-scola.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian Director Ettore Scola Dead at 84<\/a>, and he featured in three articles in <em>Le Monde<\/em>, one on January 19 &#8211; <a href=\"#43xqqDSiAETe8Rz1.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mort d\u2019Ettore Scola, ma\u00eetre du grotesque et des regrets<\/a>* and two the day after &#8211; <a href=\"#m7qqKc0rjw6Vy6ab.99\">Mort d\u2019Ettore Scola, l\u2019un des ma\u00eetres du cin\u00e9ma italien<\/a>* and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/week-end\/cinema\/films\/021633276645-le-cineaste-italien-ettore-scola-est-decede-1193583.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Le cin\u00e9aste italien Ettore Scola est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9<\/a>*. On January 20 too, other headlines included: <em>El Pais<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/cultura.elpais.com\/cultura\/2016\/01\/20\/actualidad\/1453244885_716030.html\">Muere Ettore Scola, cl\u00e1sico del cine italiano<\/a> and also <a href=\"http:\/\/cultura.elpais.com\/cultura\/2016\/01\/20\/actualidad\/1453311414_603893.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El \u00faltimo gran maestro del cine italiano<\/a>,&nbsp; whilst in France <em>Liberation<\/em> and <em>Le Matin<\/em> wrote, respectively &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/next.liberation.fr\/cinema\/2016\/01\/20\/eternel-scola_1427825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eternel Scola<\/a> and&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/lematin.ma\/journal\/2016\/deces-du-cineaste--italien-ettore-scola\/239820.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">D\u00e9c\u00e8s du cin\u00e9aste italien Ettore Scola<\/a> whilst German papers <em>Die Zeit <\/em>and<em> Die Welt<\/em> said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zeit.de\/kultur\/film\/2016-01\/italien-regisseur-ettore-scola-verstorben\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Regisseur Ettore Scola ist tot<\/a> and<em> &#8211;<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.welt.de\/kultur\/article151209868\/Italiens-Star-Regisseur-Ettore-Scola-ist-tot.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italiens Star-Regisseur Ettore Scola ist tot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On January 15 <em>Le Monde<\/em> wrote up a conversation with <strong>Guido Raimondi<\/strong>, the new President of the European Court of Human Rights &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/societe\/article\/2016\/01\/15\/guido-raimondi-face-au-terrorisme-la-cedh-doit-etre-realiste_4847937_3224.html#oc3ditVXD4W4XhS5.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guido Raimondi: \u00ab Face au terrorisme, la CEDH doit \u00eatre r\u00e9aliste <\/a><a href=\"#oc3ditVXD4W4XhS5.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00bb<\/a>* and two days later the same paper published another interview, this time on the European job market, with <strong>Stefano Scarpetta<\/strong>, Director for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs at the O.E.C.D &#8211; <a href=\"#uBp4k2ioVqCvo4qH.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00ab R\u00e9duire l\u2019incertitude sur les licenciements favorise l\u2019emploi \u00bb<\/a>*.<\/p>\n<p>It was food and wine, and in particular Italian chef <strong>Massimo Bottura<\/strong> that attracted the attention of the <em>New York Times<\/em> on January 14, describing his Italianization of that most traditional of American classics, the hamburger &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/massimo-botturas-recipe-for-the-emilia-burger-with-salsa-verde-and-balsamic-mayo-1452791103\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Massimo Bottura\u2019s Recipe for the \u2018Emilia\u2019 Burger With Salsa Verde and Balsamic Mayo<\/a>*. Cars also got a mention when on January 19 <em>El Mundo<\/em> published a piece featuring <strong>Luca de Meo<\/strong>, President of Seat and his account of the way ahead for the Spanish brand &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/motor\/2016\/01\/19\/569e0e18e2704e33688b45e8.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luca de Meo: &#8220;La crisis del di\u00e9sel nos ha hecho ser m\u00e1s transparentes&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism<\/strong> \u2013 Despite the winter weather here in Italy, the foreign papers still had interesting suggestions for their respective readers.
