The article in London\u2019s <em>Financial Times<\/em> was headed &#8211; I<a href=\"https:\/\/next.ft.com\/content\/0dd11b26-91f8-11e5-94e6-c5413829caa5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">taly plans part-privatization of railway group Ferrovie dello Stato<\/a>*, whilst the <em>New York Times&nbsp; <\/em>reported &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2015\/11\/23\/business\/23reuters-italy-privatisations-railways.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy Looking to Sell Up to 40 Percent of Railways Group-Minister<\/a>* and in France, <em>Les Echos<\/em> ran with &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/investir.lesechos.fr\/actions\/actualites\/rome-veut-ceder-jusqu-a-40-de-sa-compagnie-ferroviaire-ministre-1501418.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rome veut c\u00e9der jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 40% de sa compagnie ferroviaire-ministre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After a brief period out of the spotlight, this week there have been more articles about <strong>Ferrari<\/strong> and its announcement that as of next year, the group will be trading on the Milan Stock Exchange, with the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>, for example, reporting November 23 that &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ferrari-to-list-shares-on-italian-stock-market-1448287624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ferrari to List Shares on Italian Stock Market<\/a>*). On November 20, however, it was Geox that caught the attention of Reuters, who reported that &#8211; <a href=\"#SCs1tV8WiRAfF7pV.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy&#8217;s Geox signs distribution contract in China<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Culture<\/strong> \u2013 Culture has occupied more than a few column inches this week, beginning with two literary articles on November 23 in the <em>New York Times&#8217; Sunday Book Review<\/em> each featuring an&nbsp; iconic Italian author, one being <strong>Primo Levi <\/strong>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/29\/books\/review\/the-complete-works-of-primo-levi.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018The Complete Works of Primo Levi\u2019<\/a>* and the other,&nbsp; <strong>Umberto Eco &#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/22\/books\/review\/umberto-ecos-numero-zero.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Umberto Eco\u2019s \u2018Numero Zero\u2019<\/a>*.<\/p>\n<p>It was an Italian scientist, <strong>Carlo Rovelli<\/strong>, who featured in <em>The Times<\/em> in a piece, on November 25, about the success of his book on physics, written to appeal to and be understood by the masses &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/tto\/arts\/books\/article4622503.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carlo Rovelli: the quantum physicist who wrote a bestselling loo book<\/a> . A day earlier, the <em>Sueddeutsche Zeitung<\/em> published a portrait of the South Tyrolean author from Merano, Joseph<strong> Zoderer <\/strong>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sueddeutsche.de\/kultur\/literatur-aus-suedtirol-heimat-gibt-es-nicht-1.2752071\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heimat gibt es nicht<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As to art, on November 24, the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> wrote about the \u201csurprising\u201d <strong>Giotto<\/strong> exhibition underway in Milan\u2019s Palazzo Reale &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/giotto-litalia-review-the-artist-who-baptized-the-renaissance-1448390076\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Giotto, l\u2019Italia\u2019 Review: The Artist Who Baptized the Renaissance<\/a>*, whilst on the same day, it was an exhibition in Ferrara, dedicated to founder of the Metaphysical art movement, <strong>Giorgio de<\/strong> <strong>Chirico,<\/strong> that featured in the <em>New York Times<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/25\/arts\/international\/review-giorgio-de-chirico-under-an-italian-citys-spell.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Review: Giorgio de Chirico, Under an Italian City\u2019s Spell<\/a>*.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Food and Wine <\/strong>was also well-reported this week. On November 21, the <em>Financial Times<\/em> wrote about the current interest in Italian wines by investors, and whether it is a trend likely to continue &#8211; <a href=\"#axzz3sJEUvlza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Does the love affair with Italian fine wine have a future?<\/a>* and a day later, Spain\u2019s <em>El Mundo<\/em> had advice on where to eat the best \u201cantipasti\u201d in Madrid &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/papel\/gastro\/2015\/11\/22\/5651cdfa22601d44568b4656.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ginos y el secreto de sus antipasti<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On November 23, the <em>New York Times<\/em> featured an interview with <strong>Lidia Bastianich<\/strong>, the Italo-American \u201cnonna\u201d par excellence, and her part in teaching Americans to cook and enjoy Italian food &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2015\/11\/23\/business\/ap-us-food-lidia-bastianich.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lidia Bastianich: From Refugee to Matriarch of a Food Empire<\/a>*. Meanwhile, on the same day, the <em>New York<\/em> <em>Times<\/em> turned its attention to Italy\u2019s liquid gold, with a photographic journey centered on the olive harvest in <strong>Lucca<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/slideshow\/2015\/11\/23\/t-magazine\/olive-oil-in-lucca-italy\/s\/23tmag-oliveoil-slide-VMLW.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olive Oil in Lucca, Italy<\/a>*, whilst on November 25, there was a piece in <em>Bloomberg<\/em> all about <strong>Lavazza<\/strong>, the Espresso \u201cKing\u201d, and it\u2019s plans to win over American coffee-lovers &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/photo-essays\/2015-11-25\/lavazza-coffee-challenges-starbucks-in-u-s-photos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The King of Little Italian Coffees Prepares a Big Push for American Connoisseurs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism<\/strong> \u2013 The sector that contributes so much to Italy\u2019s economy never fails to feature somewhere in the foreign media and this week, on November 23, <em>El Mundo\u2019s <\/em>website carried a photographic feature that followed in the footsteps of the \u201cGrand Tour\u201d &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocholeguas.com\/albumes\/2015\/11\/11\/grand_tour_italia\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Italia del Grand Tour<\/a>. Earlier, on November 19, the <em>Great Homes &amp; Destinations<\/em> section in the <em>New York Times<\/em> published a piece on&nbsp; <strong>Cumuli<\/strong> and the stretch of Italian coastline that has bewitched so many celebrities over the years, including Greta Garbo, Frank Sinatra, Steven Spielberg and Beyonc\u00e9 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/20\/greathomesanddestinations\/along-a-byway-on-the-italian-riviera.html?module=ArrowsNav&amp;contentCollection=Great%20Homes%20&amp;%20Destinations&amp;action=keypress&amp;region=FixedLeft&amp;pgtype=article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Along a Byway on the Italian Riviera<\/a>*.
