Economy & finance <\/strong>\u2013 News about the Italian economy and finances continues to feature in the foreign press.  On 7 September the Financial Times<\/em> highlighted the current strength of the Milan Stock Exchange in comparison to those elsewhere in Europe – Italy shines among euro stock gloom<\/a>*  having previously, on 6 September, written about   the change of pace that Mario Greco<\/strong> has brought about in the Banca Generali – Mario Greco, CEO, Generali: a change of gear in Italy<\/a>*.<\/p>\n

One of the latest developments of Italy\u2019s financial affairs, Poste Italiane\u2019s<\/strong> partial flotation has also attracted some interest as it prepares its prospectus for potential investors and the date for its debut on the Stock Exchanges draws closer. On 6 September the Financial Times <\/em>wrote – Poste Italiane on track with partial privatization this year<\/a>*, and 2 days later, Reuters <\/em>had this to say – Italy’s post office to test IPO appetite next week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Energy sector has also warranted a mention, with Bloomberg<\/em>  reporting, on 5 September, that Enel<\/strong>  is likely to reach its financial objectives this year –  Enel on Track to Meet 2015 Financial Targets, CEO Starace Says<\/a>,  whilst on 9 September, Les Echos<\/em> set out how Ansaldo Energia<\/strong> may well become the symbol of  Italy\u2019s \u201cindustrial renaissance\u201d – Ansaldo Energia veut \u00eatre le symbole de la renaissance industrielle de l’Italie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also on 9 September, Brazil\u2019s Valor Economico<\/em>, wrote about Chiesi Farmaceutica\u2019s <\/strong>plans to double its presence on the Brazilian market – Italiana Chiesi quer dobrar de tamanho no Brasil at\u00e9 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cinema<\/strong> \u2013 This week, the foreign press has continued to spotlight the Venice Film Festival<\/strong>. On 4 September the New York Times<\/em> ran a piece that spoke of the festival in general terms, also describing what it was like to experience the world\u2019s oldest film festival – Venice Film Festival Offers a Chance to Watch Suffering, Then to Quaff Champagne<\/a>*. The Washington Post,<\/em> on the other hand, chose to republish the Associated Press \u2018<\/em>Venice Watch\u2019 feature \u2013 that provides a daily account of which competing films  are being screened – on its own website – Cunningham sees \u2018Game of Thrones\u2019 career boost<\/a>.  Other articles also featured individual films: on 7 September the New York Times<\/em>  dedicated one to Argentinean film \u2018The Clan\u2019 – True-Crime Film Thriller ‘El Clan’ Wows Argentina and Venice<\/a>),  and another, on the same day,  to the film featuring former  Israeli Prime Minister, Rabin, – Venice Entry ‘Rabin, The Last Day’ Probes an Israeli Trauma<\/a>.  ‘Winter on Fire\u201d, a documentary on the Ukrainian revolution  was the Washington Post\u2019s <\/em>choice on 4 September – Ukraine revolution inspires Venice documentary<\/a>, and on 8 September, El Mundo<\/em> featured  animated film \u2018Anomalisa\u2019 – ‘Anomalisa’, una anomal\u00eda genial<\/a>.  That same day,  it was ‘Sangue del mio Sangue’ by Italy\u2019s very own Marco Bellocchio that was Reuters\u2019 <\/em>pick – After 50 years in film, Italy’s Bellocchio calm in Venice<\/a>. On 4 September, The Financial Times<\/em> chose, momentarily at least, to ignore what was happening in Venice, and instead published its interview with Abel Ferrara<\/strong>, to mark the release of his film about Pierpaolo Pasolini  in Britain – Interview: Abel Ferrara on film \u2018Pasolini\u2019<\/a>*.<\/p>\n

Tourism<\/strong> \u2013 As the summer draws to an end, tourism is still a topic of interest with Milan<\/strong> attracting the lion\u2019s share of attention and not just because of Expo. On 8 September Reuters <\/em>noted that in recent years, the city had experienced something of a renaissance – Milan scrubs up after years as Italy’s ugly sister<\/a>, whereas on 7 September, El Pais<\/em>  published an article on the Arts&Food exhibition that is, in fact linked to the Exposition – Mil\u00e1n propone un viaje hist\u00f3rico por la relaci\u00f3n entre comida y arte<\/a>)  and another piece on  Ermenegildo Zegna\u2019s <\/strong>project that aims to combine style and culinary art – Estilo a la mesa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also on 7 September, El Mundo<\/em> chose to focus on Florence<\/strong>, suggesting readers should consider heading there to discover all that was new in the city as it re-launches itself as a champion of contemporary culture – Florencia m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de Stendhal<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Fashion<\/strong> is a topic that always attracts newspaper coverage and in fact on 7 September, the New York Times<\/em> published its interview with  Angelo Bonati<\/strong>, the CEO of Panerai <\/strong>in which they talked about this \u2018made in Italy<\/em>\u2019s label and its fascination with watches –  Angelo Bonati: A Constant Presence at Panera<\/a> <\/span>*.  On 6 September, Germany\u2019s Die<\/em> Welt,<\/em> on the other hand, chose to write about Dolce&Gabbana\u2019s <\/strong>latest runway show \u2013 Dolce Italia<\/a>,  and two days later, it was Italia Independent\u2019s<\/strong> glasses that featured in both El Mundo<\/em> and El Pais <\/em>that published an interview with Andrea Tessitore<\/strong> in which he explained the company\u2019s strategy for growth  – ‘Estamos felices de que copien nuestras gafas’<\/a>  which El Pais<\/em> followed up 9 September with a profile of the company\u2019s founder,  New York born Lapo Elkann<\/strong> – Lapo Elkann, heredero millonario y ahora chico anuncio<\/a>).<\/p>\n
