Most articles centered around the theme of the Expo, food (<em>New York Times<\/em>, April 30 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2015\/04\/30\/us\/ap-eu-travel-italy-expo-2015-5-things-to-know.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Food, Italy and Milan: Expo 2015 Seeks to Feed the Planet<\/a>*; <em>Expansion<\/em>, May 4 &#8211;&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.expansion.com\/sociedad\/2015\/05\/04\/55476955ca4741f0698b456d.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Expo de Mil\u00e1n reflexiona sobre la alimentaci\u00f3n y la agricultura<\/a>), with detailed stories on related themes, such as the food of the future (<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>, May 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/embrace-the-food-tech-that-makes-us-healthier-1430770426?KEYWORDS=Italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Embrace the Food Tech That Makes Us Healthier<\/a>*).<\/p>\n<p>But as the <em>Financial Times<\/em> reminded its readers, Expo is also a huge wager for economic recovery in italy (May 1 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/5d9bb666-efe1-11e4-bb88-00144feab7de.html#axzz3Z9HiAJXc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy pins hopes for economic revival on Milan Expo<\/a>*), partly by reinforcing the ties with countries that receive Italian agrifood exports. This, for example, is the case of Kuwait, whose English language paper <em>Kuwait Times<\/em> reported on the warm reception from Italian institutions that Kuwait received at the inauguration (May 1 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/news.kuwaittimes.net\/milan-expo-pavilion-shows-challenges-facing-kuwait-sheikh-salman-highlights-achievements-at-opening-ceremony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Milan Expo pavilion shows challenges facing Kuwait<\/a>; May 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/news.kuwaittimes.net\/italian-agriculture-minister-attaches-special-importance-to-kuwait-at-expo-milano-2015-kuwaiti-officials-satisfied-at-national-participation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian Agriculture Minister attaches special importance to Kuwait at Expo Milano 2015<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tips for visiting Milan<\/strong> \u2013 The attention of the foreign press went beyond the gates of the Exposition. Some American papers offered tips to visiting the city and relaxing outside the event (May 5 <em>New York Times<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2015\/05\/05\/us\/ap-eu-travel-trip-milan-expo-tips.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tips for Visiting Milan Expo, From Dining to Weather<\/a>*; <em>Washington Post<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/lifestyle\/travel\/taking-a-break-from-expo-among-milans-cultural-draws\/2015\/05\/05\/7febf888-f34d-11e4-bca5-21b51bbdf93e_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> &#8211; Taking a break from Expo among Milan\u2019s cultural draws<\/a>), while <em>The Times <\/em>gaves suggestions on the best places to live for those wanting to move there (May 3 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesundaytimes.co.uk\/sto\/style\/homes_and_gardens\/overseas_property\/article1550807.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Let\u2019s move to &#8230; Milan<\/a>). <em>Le Monde<\/em> on the other hand, concentrated on cultural offerings in the city with a visit to the new <strong>Museum of Culture<\/strong> (May 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/culture\/article\/2015\/05\/04\/une-ancienne-usine-reconvertie-en-temple-de-l-ethnographie_4627080_3246.html#otzVCdSGwBw5hzXO.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Une ancienne usine reconvertie en temple de l\u2019ethnographie<\/a>*) and the exhibition \u201cArt and Artists at the Front\u201d, dedicating to artistic expression during the First World War May 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/culture\/article\/2015\/05\/04\/l-italie-rentre-a-son-tour-en-guerre_4627172_3246.html?xtmc=italie&amp;xtcr=4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">L\u2019Italie rentre, \u00e0 son tour, en guerre<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fashion and art: Prada, Armani, Maramotti <\/strong>\u2013 Cultural events during the six months of Expo are intrinsically interwoven with the world of fashion. First, there is the new headquarters of the <strong>Prada Foundation<\/strong> in Milan, the exceptional, newly inaugurated space dedicated to art (<em>Les Echos<\/em>, May 3 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.lesechos.fr\/judith-benhamou-huet\/la-fondation-prada-a-milan-gros-moyens-grosses-ambitions-un-nouveau-a15338.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La fondation Prada \u00e0 Milan : gros moyens, grosses ambitions. un nouveau lieu exceptionnel<\/a>; <em>Le Monde<\/em>, May 2 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/m-actu\/article\/2015\/04\/30\/miuccia-prada-d-une-collection-a-l-autre_4624312_4497186.html?xtmc=italie&amp;xtcr=11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miuccia Prada, d\u2019une collection \u00e0 l\u2019autre<\/a>*; <em>New York Times<\/em>, May 6 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2015\/05\/06\/arts\/06reuters-fashion-prada-arts.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prada Mixes Fashion, Art and Wes Anderson Bar in Milan<\/a>*; <em>Les Echos<\/em>, May 7 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/week-end\/culture\/02147148746-prada-epate-milan-1117623.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prada \u00e9pate Milan<\/a>). The all-powerful Armani has also just inaugurated an exhibition hall (<em>El Pais<\/em>, May 2 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2015\/05\/01\/estilo\/1430494420_326500.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Armani todopoderoso<\/a>) and has decided to celebrated his 40 years of activity with a museum \u2013 <strong>Armani Silos<\/strong> \u2013 to showcase its historic fashions (<em>Reuters<\/em>, May 1 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2015\/05\/01\/fashion-armani-idUSL5N0XR6VM20150501\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Armani fetes 40 years in fashion with VIP gala, new museum<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The spotlight was also turned on another combination of fashion and culture: the <strong>Maramotti<\/strong> <strong>Collection<\/strong> in Reggio Emilia, which was reviewed by the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> (April 30 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/max-maras-legacy-of-art-patronage-1430422773?KEYWORDS=italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Max Mara\u2019s Legacy of Art Patronage<\/a>*). There was also an article about Max Mara in the Spanish paper <em>ABC<strong>, <\/strong><\/em>which interviewed CEO Luigi Maramotti (May 2 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc.es\/estilo\/gente\/20150502\/abci-luigi-maramotti-arte-201505012111.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luigi Maramotti \u00abNo, absolutamente no. La moda no es un arte, es un oficio\u00bb<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism in Italy <\/strong>&#8211; Expo 2015 is also an opportunity to discover other cities besides Milan. The <em>Wall Street Journal<strong> <\/strong><\/em>actually reported on a second Renaissance through northern Italy, revitalized with a vast range of cultural events (April 30 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/northern-italys-second-renaissance-1430422642?KEYWORDS=italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northern Italy\u2019s Second Renaissance<\/a>*). These obviously include the <strong>Venice Biennale<\/strong>, with <em>El Pais<\/em> writing about the Spanish pavilion (May 6 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/cultura.elpais.com\/cultura\/2015\/05\/05\/actualidad\/1430851192_344606.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Un Dal\u00ed no tan escandaloso<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><em>The Times<\/em> suggested that its readers spend a weekend in <strong>Turin<\/strong> (May 2&nbsp; &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/tto\/travel\/holidays\/breaks\/article4427403.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A weekend in . . .Turin, Italy<\/a>*), while the <em>New York Times<\/em> visited the Galleria dell&#8217;Accademia in <strong>Florence <\/strong>to see Hero, the sculpture tribute to David by the Italo-New Yorker Pio Saracino (May 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com\/2015\/05\/05\/hero-a-new-work-in-florence-pays-tribute-to-michelangelos-david\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Hero,\u2019 a New Work in Florence, Pays Tribute to Michelangelo\u2019s \u2018David\u2019<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>There were also stories about <strong>Matera<\/strong>, which will be the European City of Culture in 2019, with suggestions about taking a trip back through (May 1 on <em>New York Times<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/reuters\/2015\/05\/01\/world\/europe\/01reuters-travel-italy-matera.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trip Tips: Italy&#8217;s Matera Is a 9,000-Year Trip Back in Time<\/a>; <em>Reuters <\/em>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2015\/05\/01\/life-idUSRTX1B5AA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy&#8217;s Matera is a trip back in time<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lifestyle and the agrifood sector<\/strong> \u2013 The foreign press also pursued its usual interest in Italian lifestyle. Food of course, with help from Expo, was at the top of the list. The <em>Financial Times<\/em> explained <strong>Campari<\/strong>\u2019s optimism in view of Expo, and its interest in new acquisitions of Italian brands (April 30 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/091d03a2-ee87-11e4-a5cd-00144feab7de.html#axzz3Z9HiAJXc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Campari whets appetites for Italian brands<\/a>*). And while the <em>New York Times<\/em> gave its readers some of the best recipes for Italian antipasto (May 1 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/05\/06\/dining\/antipasto-is-the-overture-to-classic-italian-meals.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antipasto Is the Overture to Breezy Italian-Style Entertaining<\/a>*), <em>Le Monde <\/em>supplied its readers with some of the best addresses for Italian cuisine in Paris (April 30 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/m-gastronomie-le-lieu\/article\/2015\/04\/30\/toutes-les-nuances-de-l-italie-a-paris_4625862_4497598.html#I6iM4H87GTqokoyf.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toutes les nuances de l\u2019Italie \u00e0 Paris<\/a>*).<\/p>\n<p>The <em>New York Times<\/em> also reminded its readers that there is now good coffee on the International Space Station, thanks to a new espresso maker (called <strong>ISSpresso<\/strong>) designed together with Lavazza to work in the absence of gravity (May 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/05\/05\/world\/europe\/espresso-now-the-international-space-station-is-fully-equipped.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Espresso? Now the International Space Station Is Fully Equipped<\/a>*). <em>Valor Economico<\/em> also published an article about the agrifood sector, announcing the opening of a new sales point of <strong>Eataly<\/strong> in Brazil (May 1 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.valor.com.br\/empresas\/4026612\/eataly-abre-loja-no-brasil-em-maio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eataly abre loja no Brasil em maio<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>There was also some reporting on quality Italian manufacturing. <em>Bloomberg Businessweek<\/em> reported on 3D printing and its role in the future of Italian artisan production (May 5 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2015-05-05\/how-3-d-printing-is-saving-the-italian-artisan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How 3-D Printing Is Saving the Italian Artisan<\/a>), while <em>L\u2019Express <\/em>discussed the revival and the ambitions of Maserati (May 2 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/lexpansion.lexpress.fr\/entreprises\/maserati-lache-les-chevaux_1675852.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maserati l\u00e2che les chevaux<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personalities<\/strong> \u2013 Finally, several Italian personalities made the news. <em>Die Welt<\/em> ran a profile of <strong>Giovanni Ferrero<\/strong>, defined as an esthete at the head of a chocolate multinational (May 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welt.de\/wirtschaft\/article140495100\/Der-neue-Mr-Nutella-ist-ein-joggender-Schoengeist.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Der neue Mr. Nutella ist ein joggender Sch\u00f6ngeist<\/a>), while the <em>New York Times<\/em> reported on the appointment of <strong>Giovanni Caforio<\/strong> as CEO of Bristol-Myers Squibb (May 4 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/aponline\/2015\/05\/05\/business\/ap-us-bristol-myers-new-ceo.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New CEO Takes Over Evolving Drugmaker Bristol-Myers Squibb<\/a>*). <em>The Times<\/em> wrote about the new project of composer <strong>Ludovico Einaudi <\/strong>(May 2 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/tto\/arts\/music\/albumreviews\/article4427980.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ludovico Einaudi: The Taranta Project<\/a>*) and music was also the subject of a <em>Time<\/em> article on how Google decided to remember <strong>Bartolomeo Cristofori<\/strong>, inventor of the piano (May 3 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/3844952\/who-invented-the-piano-bartolomeo-cristofori-google-doodle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Google Doodle Honors Bartolomeo Cristofori, Inventor of the Piano<\/a>).
