As the <em>Washington Post <\/em>explained, Milan has done itself up for the occasion, with the hope of attracting 20 million visitors&nbsp; (April 24 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/europe\/milan-spiffs-up-for-expo-2015\/2015\/04\/24\/ad7b1ca4-ea7c-11e4-8581-633c536add4b_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Milan spiffs up for Expo 2015<\/a>). International papers have a treasure house of ideas. <em>The Times<\/em> described a weekend tour of the city (April 25 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/tto\/travel\/holidays\/breaks\/article4420485.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A weekend in . . . Milan, Italy<\/a>*), the <em>New York Times<\/em> wrote about the various architectural styles used for the pavilions (27 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/04\/28\/arts\/design\/a-feast-of-architectural-styles-for-expo-milano-2015.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Feast of Architectural Styles for Expo Milano 2015<\/a>*), and <em>Les Echos<\/em> saw in Expo a chance to discover the new cultural venues in the Lombard capital (April 24 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/week-end\/culture\/02122175125-expo-2015-notre-selection-milanaise-du-in-et-du-off-1114146.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expo 2015 : notre s\u00e9lection milanaise du in et du off<\/a>*). France\u2019s <em>Les Echos <\/em>dedicated a great deal of space to Expo, publishing an article on the economic outcomes of the event (April 29 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/journal20150429\/lec1_enquete\/02134696724-expo-2015-le-grand-pari-du-miracle-a-milan-1115373.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expo 2015 : le grand pari du \u00ab Miracle \u00bb \u00e0 Milan<\/a>*), and interviewing <strong>Oscar Farinetti<\/strong> on the stimulus that Expo will have on tourism. (April 29 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/journal20150429\/lec2_industrie_et_services\/02137009671-oscar-farinetti-lexpo-doit-nous-aider-a-doubler-le-nombre-de-touristes-etrangers-1115276.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oscar Farinetti : \u00ab L&#8217;Expo doit nous aider \u00e0 doubler le nombre de touristes \u00e9trangers \u00bb <\/a>*). The founder of <strong>Eataly<\/strong>, as testimonial for the Italian agrifood sector, was also the subject of an article in <em>Le Monde <\/em>(April 27 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/economie\/article\/2015\/04\/27\/oscar-farinetti-padre-nourricier-de-l-expo-milanaise_4623248_3234.html#G2B9AS9bf9ROJaRp.99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oscar Farinetti, padre nourricier de l\u2019Expo milanaise<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>With the arrival of Expo, the foreign press also gave advice on good places for food and wine tourism in other regions of Italy. <strong>Tuscany<\/strong>, for example, was mentioned in an supplement to <em>El Mundo<\/em> as one of the best destinations for a combo of relaxation and great wine tasting (April 28 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocholeguas.com\/2015\/04\/06\/otrosmundos\/1428315302.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Siete destinos con nombre de vino<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Venice Biennale<\/strong> \u2013The other sublime tourist and cultural event of 2015 is of course the Venice Biennale, a reason why the foreign press continued to publish articles on the city on the lagoon. <em>Les Echos<\/em> reported that the French review <em>Connaisaince des art<\/em> will, on occasion of both Expo and the Biennale, dedicate its upcoming issue to Italy (April 23 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.connaissancedesarts.com\/civilisation\/actus\/edito-un-numero-tres-italien-110563.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00c9dito : Un num\u00e9ro tr\u00e8s italien<\/a>), while <em>El Pais<\/em> published a piece on the artists being shown at the Spanish pavilion (April 24 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/cultura.elpais.com\/cultura\/2015\/04\/24\/actualidad\/1429888680_730471.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El fantasma de Dal\u00ed se adue\u00f1ar\u00e1 del Pabell\u00f3n de Espa\u00f1a en Venecia<\/a>). <em>El Pais <\/em>also reported on the restoration of the <strong>Rialto Bridge<\/strong> April 28 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/elpais.com\/cultura\/2015\/04\/22\/actualidad\/1429716393_617926.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El puente de Rialto, 18 meses en el quir\u00f3fano<\/a>) while the <em>Wall Street Journal, <\/em>showed interest in the culinary arts, publishing advice from chef <strong>Bruno Gavagnini<\/strong> on how to taste the city (24 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/a-foodie-guide-to-venice-1429818135?KEYWORDS=italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Foodie Guide to Venice<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cultural interest<\/strong> \u2013 Aside from Expo and the Biennale, the foreign press wrote about a series of cultural events. For the theatre, the <em>New York Times<\/em> wrote about the sets created by <strong>Paolo Ventura<\/strong> for the Chicago Opera (April 27 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/04\/28\/theater\/paolo-ventura-designs-a-carousel.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paolo Ventura Designs a \u2018Carousel&#8217;<\/a>), while <em>El Mundo<\/em> wrote about cinema with a review of the film \u201cCalabria\u201d by <strong>Francesco Munzi,<\/strong> presented at Maiorca as part of the festival Maremostra (April 24 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/baleares\/2015\/04\/24\/553a8550ca4741f3148b4573.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maremostra contar\u00e1 con siete estrenos absolutos en Espa\u00f1a<\/a>). There was interest in history with a profile of Italian historian <strong>Giacomo Todeschini<\/strong> (<em>Le Monde<\/em>, April 29 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/livres\/article\/2015\/04\/29\/giacomo-todeschini-horloger-de-l-histoire_4624797_3260.html?xtmc=italie&amp;xtcr=6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Giacomo Todeschini, horloger de l\u2019histoire<\/a>), while <em>Liberation<\/em> was interested in literature and the works by <strong>Goliarda Sapienza <\/strong>(Liberation, April 29 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liberation.fr\/livres\/2015\/04\/29\/l-art-du-paradoxe-de-goliarda-sapienza_1276962\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">L\u2019art du paradoxe de Goliarda Sapienza<\/a>).
