Economy<\/strong> \u2013 Italy\u2019s economic propspects are improving and, as Les Echos<\/em> explained last week, Rome might raise its estimates for the growth of the GDP (March 16 – L’Italie va revoir en hausse sa pr\u00e9vision de croissance-source<\/a>). And Le Nouvel Observateur<\/em> stated that the rebirth of Made in Italy, the Emilia Romagna textile industry has also seen new growth (March 16 – L’Italie va revoir en hausse sa pr\u00e9vision de croissance-source<\/a>). (March 17  –<\/em> A Carpi, le “made in Italy” rena\u00eet de ses cendres<\/a>). But, as Enel<\/strong> CEO Francesco Starace notes, the future must be built with sustainable resources, and that is why the energy groups has just presented an environmental initiative together with Greenpeace. As the Financial Times<\/em> states, this means that Enel is open to reduction of emissions (March 17 – Enel pledges to tackle climate change<\/a>*<\/span>). The foreign press also discussed finance, with the quotation on the stock exchange of coffee manufacturer Zanetti<\/strong>, which has just filed to be listed in Milan ( March 18 Les Echos<\/em>, Italie: Massimo Zanetti a d\u00e9pos\u00e9 son prospectus d’IPO<\/a> and Reuters<\/em> –Italy’s Massimo Zanetti files request to list in Milan<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Tourism<\/strong> \u2013 There were numerous suggestions for tourist destination. The Washington Post<\/em> included Italy in the top five places in the world to visit, thanks to the stronger dollar (March 13 – The five best places to travel while the dollar is strong<\/a>). The Financial Times<\/em> wrote about the opportunities in the real estate market of Naples<\/strong>, a city where anyone interested in art, archeology and history can find a lot to do (March 13, Why homebuyers in Italy\u2019s Naples are buying into history<\/a>*<\/span>). And while The Sunday Times<\/em> reported on a trip to Garda <\/strong>(March 13 – On Lake Garda, I learnt to holiday without my husband<\/a>*<\/span>), the New York Times<\/em> went to Venice<\/strong> to study the Biennale Arte<\/strong> (March 14 – In Venice, a Venerable Art Fair Flourishes<\/a>*<\/span>).<\/p>\n

Cinema, style, taste<\/strong> \u2013 There was no lack of reporting on cultural events, cinema in particular. El Mundo<\/em> published a review of the film by Abel Ferrara about Pasolini<\/strong> Pasolini <\/strong>(March 13 – El Evangelio seg\u00fan Pasolini<\/a>) and the New York Times<\/em> reported on the festival New Directors\/New Films, at the MoMa, where the film \u201cThe Creation of Meaning\u201d by Simone Rapisarda Casanova<\/strong> (March 17 – New Directors\/New Films Festival Gives Spotlight to Youth<\/a>*<\/span>).<\/p>\n

As regards style, El Pais<\/em> rediscovered the fashion line of Marni, founded by an inimitable designer, Consuelo Castiglioni <\/strong>(March 13 – Consuelo Castiglioni, la madurez de una dise\u00f1adora inimitable<\/a>), while El Mundo<\/em> wrote about the Italian project for sustainable architecture Oxygen Eco-Tower<\/strong>, which just won an award at the trade fair Mipim (March 17 – Vivir en una gran torre ‘\u00e1rbol’<\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, taste. The Wall Street Journal<\/em> concentrated on the challenge of Brunello to Bordeaux (March 13 – Can Brunello Match the Charms of Bordeaux?<\/a>*<\/span>),<\/span> while Bloomberg<\/em> published the Italian recipes used in the New York restaurant Santina (March 17 – Santina Review: Beachy Italian Resort Vibes Under Manhattan\u2019s High Line<\/a>).<\/p>\n
