Internationalization of Italian businesses<\/strong> \u2013 Italian media and businesses are targeting International markets. That was the focus last week of the foreign press\u2019s interest in Italy. It started with a report on the wind power project of Enel Green Power<\/strong> in Chile (Bloomberg<\/em>, 5 December- Enel Green Power Starts $190 Million Wind Farm in Chile<\/a>), turned to Banca Imi<\/strong>, which is preparing to expand in the Americas (Reuters<\/em>, 11 December- Banca IMI preps Americas expansion<\/a>), and continued with Dr. Schar<\/strong>, which is planning a non-glutine factory in Brazil (Valor Economico<\/em>, 5 December- Italiana Dr Sch\u00e4r, de alimento sem gl\u00faten, planeja f\u00e1brica em tr\u00eas anos<\/a>*).<\/span><\/p>\n

And while Mediobanca<\/strong> wants to strengthen its presence in France (Les Echos<\/em>, 10 December- Mediobanca va renforcer sa pr\u00e9sence en France<\/a>), other groups are looking at Asia. This includes Barilla<\/strong>, which is testing some products in China (Reuters<\/em>, 5 December- Italy’s Barilla tests Chinese tastes for wok pasta<\/a>) and Lavazza, <\/strong>which sees India as its key market (The Hindu BusinessLine<\/em>, 10 December- Lavazza here for the long term, says MD<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Culture<\/strong> \u2013 Reports on cultural events natural started with articles on the opening of La Scala<\/strong> (Washington Post<\/em>, 7 December- Barenboim bids La Scala farewell with \u2018Fidelio\u2019<\/a>; <\/span>Reuters<\/em>, 8 December– <\/span>Barenboim’s ‘Fidelio’ wows La Scala opera buffs at season opener<\/a>), but also included other articles on music. That included a piece on the concert by the Orchestra of the Turin Teatro Regio in New York at the Big Apple\u2019s Eataly<\/strong> (Wall Street Journal<\/em>, 7 December- Turin orchestra performs at NYC food emporium<\/a>*<\/span>) and the restoration of the Arena of Verona<\/strong>, the amphitheatre that hosts one of the world\u2019s best opera festivals (New York Times<\/em>, 17 December- Verona’s Arena to Get $17.5 Million Restoration<\/a>*<\/span>).<\/p>\n

There was also a great deal of attention on cinema. The Wall Street Journal<\/em> reported on the rebirth of Cinecitt\u00e0<\/strong>, where the remake of Ben Hur will be shot in 2015 (8 December- La Dolce Corporate Welfare<\/a>*<\/span>), the New York Times<\/em> reviewed Paolo Virzi<\/strong>\u2019s film \u201cThe Human Capital\u201d (16 December- A Portrait of Italy Today Based on an American Thriller<\/a>) and El Pais<\/em> wrote about the Italian Film Festival in Barcelona, with its different points of view on the Bel Paese (14 December- Pel\u00edculas que desmontan t\u00f3picos<\/a>).<\/p>\n

There were also pieces on art, for example a review of the exhibition of Renaissance art in Washington (Washington Post<\/em>, 5 December- Renaissance artworks depicting Mary featured in DC<\/a>) and a retrospective that the Reina Sofia Museum of Madrid dedicated to the sculptor Lucian Fabro <\/strong>(El Pais<\/em>, 13 December- Luciano Fabro, arte ecl\u00e9ctico<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Lifestyle<\/strong> \u2013 There were a number of articles on Italian lifestyle. There were report on fashion: the collections of Valentino<\/strong> (New York Times<\/em>, 11 December- A Valentino Collection <\/a>Tailored to New York<\/a>*<\/span>) Ferragamo<\/strong> and Missoni<\/strong> (Bloomberg Businessweek<\/em>, 11 December- From Ferragamo to Missoni, sneakers tread a trend<\/a>), as well as articles on engines produced in Italy (O Globo<\/em>, 15 December- Ducati atinge 1 milh\u00e3o de motos produzidas na It\u00e1lia<\/a>). The New York Times<\/em> recalled a star of racing, Vincenzo Lancia, <\/strong>the Leonarda Da Vinci of V6 engines \u201d (12 December- Working in Postwar Italy, He Was the da Vinci of the V6<\/a>) <\/span>El Mundo<\/em>  paid tribute to Elio Sorci, the legend of Dolce Vita<\/strong> paparazzi \u201d (9 December- El paparazzi mejor pagado de la ‘dolce vita’<\/a>) and  L’Express <\/em>wrote about Christmas culinary traditions (17 December- Le No\u00ebl \u00e0 l’italienne de Laura Zavan<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Tourism<\/strong> \u2013 The reports on tourist destinations started with Milan, where El Mundo<\/em> visited the new Bosco Verticale<\/strong> of Studio Boeri (El Mundo<\/em>, 12 December- Un rascacielos con bosque vertical<\/a>), <\/span>and then sought the best way of renting a house in the Italian Alps<\/strong>  (The Times<\/em>, 11 December- Look to Italy for affordable ski homes<\/a>*<\/span>). As the Wall Street Journal<\/em> wandered through the peninsula, it discovered the Italian perfection of the Argentario<\/strong> (5 December- Hotel Il Pellicano Offers Italian Perfection<\/a>*<\/span>),  O Globo<\/em>  started its journey though Italian cuisine in Emilia<\/strong>  (17 December- Italia das iguairas<\/a>), and the Washington Post<\/em> visited the Jewish Museum of Rome<\/strong> (4 December- Rome\u2019s Jewish Museum shows how Ghetto was in 1880s<\/a>). <\/span>Further south, the New York Times<\/em> spoke about the good life in Capri<\/strong>  (11 December- Living the Good Life on an Italian Island<\/a>*<\/span>) and the cultural melting pot of the historic center of Palermo<\/strong> (15 December- A Perfect Car for Palermo\u2019s Melting Pot<\/a>*<\/span>).<\/p>\n
