According to the <em>Financial Times<\/em>, China is aiming at Italy, becoming one of the largest foreign investors in the country with almost 3.5 billion euro of capital. This amounts to Beijing\u2019s greatest investments in Europe (October 7 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/1bd60160-4496-11e4-bce8-00144feabdc0.html#axzz3FYPCLKG7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China swoops in on Italy\u2019s power grids and luxury brands<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Articles in the foreign press also underlined the activity of other large Italian manufacturers. According to <em>Reuters<\/em>, <strong>Terna<\/strong> continues to distribute dividends (October 7 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2014\/10\/07\/terna-dividends-idUSR1N0PZ02220141007\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy&#8217;s Terna CEO says dividends can continue to be paid<\/a>), while <strong>Enel<\/strong><em> <\/em>is reorganizing to reduce debt and strengthen its position in Latin American (<em>Les Echos<\/em>, October 6 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lesechos.fr\/industrie-services\/energie-environnement\/0203832093328-litalien-enel-reorganise-ses-activites-en-espagne-et-en-amerique-latine-1050268.php?xtor=RSS41\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">L\u2019italien Enel r\u00e9organise ses activit\u00e9s en Espagne et en Am\u00e9rique latine<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Asia is not only invest in manufacturing. The Indonesian Erick Thohir, new owner of <strong>Inter<\/strong>, explained at the <em>Financial Times<\/em> how Italian soccer is changing (October 5 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/6e2769c0-4970-11e4-9d7e-00144feab7de.html?siteedition=intl#axzz3FRL3TKwJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Italian job: Erick Thohir, Inter Milan<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The culinary tradition<\/strong> \u2013 There was a great deal of interest in Italian cuisine last week. Along with the articles on eno-gastonomic (<em>New York Times<\/em>, October 6 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/10\/08\/dining\/in-umbria-an-italian-olive-oil-worth-the-accolades.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In Umbria, an Italian Olive Oil Worth the Accolades<\/a>), there were suggestions about books on Italian cooking (<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>, October 3 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/articles\/book-review-how-to-eataly-by-oscar-farinetti-and-di-palos-guide-to-the-essential-foods-of-italy-by-lou-di-palo-1412371798?KEYWORDS=italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018How to Eataly\u2019 by Oscar Farinetti and \u2018Di Palo\u2019s Guide to the Essential Foods of Italy\u2019 by Lou Di Palo<\/a>). There were also reports on some famous chefs: <strong>Massimo Bottura<\/strong>, with his critical edition of tradition, opened the Gastronomika festival in San Sebasti\u00e1n (<em>El Pais<\/em>, October 6 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2014\/10\/06\/estilo\/1412609957_780658.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Massimo Bottura y la tradici\u00f3n en clave cr\u00edtica<\/a>) where pizza \u2013 made for 600 people by Enzo Coccia and Enzo Piccirillo \u2013 was also a star (<em>El Mundo<\/em>, October 5 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/pais-vasco\/2014\/10\/05\/54317f3ae2704efd5e8b4581.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Sebasti\u00e1n Gastronomika comienza con marcado acento y buen sabor italiano<\/a>). There was also TV success for <strong>Alessandro Porcelli<\/strong>, creator of the American show Cook It Raw, based on competitions among chefs and is now starting in Mexico (<em>W<\/em><em>all Street Journal, <\/em>October October 8 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/articles\/alessandro-porcelli-takes-cook-it-raw-to-mexico-1412781124?KEYWORDS=italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alessandro Porcelli Takes Cook It Raw to Mexico<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Italy seen by the Giro<\/strong> \u2013 A great homogeneous story of a territory. The 2015 Giro d\u2019Italia was introduced to the press and was picked up by the foreign press. There were stories about a well-balanced race (<em>El Pais<\/em>, October 7 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/deportes.elpais.com\/deportes\/2014\/10\/06\/actualidad\/1412617724_057243.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Un Giro sin estridencias<\/a>) and those who compared it to the 21 day classic Milan-Sanremo (<em>Washington Post<\/em>, October 6 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/sports\/2015-giro-route-to-run-from-san-remo-to-milan\/2014\/10\/06\/386fa214-4d6e-11e4-877c-335b53ffe736_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2015 Giro route to run from San Remo to Milan<\/a>). They wrote about the climbs, like Mortirolo, that have made up the history of cycling (<em>El Mundo<\/em>, October 6 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/deportes\/2014\/10\/06\/5432d2a1268e3e7a108b4583.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El Mortirolo regresa al Giro<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lifestyle<\/strong> \u2013 There was also interest in Italian lifestyle. <em>Financial Time<\/em> explained how the gardens of ancient Rome are an inspiration for architects today (October 3 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/1ff192f6-44a4-11e4-ab0c-00144feabdc0.html#axzz3FRL3TKwJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How ancient Rome\u2019s pergolas offer inspiration for modern gardens<\/a>), while <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> reported on the restructuring of Villa Eden at Gardone Riviera Riviera (October 9 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/10\/10\/greathomesanddestinations\/star-architects-add-their-spin-to-italian-villa.html?_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Star Architects Add Their Spin to Italian Villa<\/a>).
