From Trieste to Stromboli, tourism in Italy<\/strong> \u2013 Summer is over but suggestions for tourist destinations in the foreign press continue. Starting from the Northwest, Sueddeutsche Zeitung<\/em>  went to visit Italy\u2019s first whisky distillery at Glorenza, while The Sunday Times<\/em> explored the sublime insanity of Trieste<\/strong> (September 28  – Trieste: sublime madness in the lost city<\/a>*) and Die Welt<\/em>, on the occasion of Geroge Clooney\u2019s wedding in Venice<\/strong>, rediscovered Palazzo Papadopoli, one of the lagoon city\u2019s pearls (September 28 – “Wir leben hier wie auf dem Mond”<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Die Ziet<\/em> paid homage to the wine culture of Langhe<\/strong>, a UNESCO heritage (September 29  – Kultur kommt von anbauen<\/a>). And the Spanish El Mundo<\/em> moved south, first stopping to discover the Byzantine treasures in Ravenna <\/strong>(September 25  –R\u00e1vena: Oro entre tinieblas<\/a>) and ending up in Stromboli<\/strong>, the volcano of love where Roberto Rossillini and Ingrid Bergman lived months of passion while filming on the island (September 28  –  Subiendo a Stromboli, el volc\u00e1n del amor<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Economy, literature, fashion: Italians in the foreign press<\/strong> \u2013 Last week, the foreign press turned its interest to important Italian figures. The Financial Times<\/em> reported on Lorenzo Bini Smaghi<\/strong>\u2019s efforts to help the euro (October 2 – Only a weak euro can save the ECB now<\/a>) and, on the cultural pages, it published an interview with Neopolitan writer Elena Ferrante<\/strong> (September 26  – Q&A with author Elena Ferrante<\/a>). There were also interest in fashion: the Wall Street Journal<\/em> wrote about designer Marta Ferri<\/strong> on occasion of the opening of her new Milan atelier (September 27 – La Dolce Dressmaker: Marta Ferri<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Bikes and engines<\/strong> \u2013 The international media also turned its attention to Italian style, in cars as well as bikes. Bloomberg<\/em> wrote about the first electric Lamborghini<\/strong> (October 1 –Lamborghini Shows Cruiser Concept; Engine Roar Optional<\/a>) and the Wall Street Journal <\/em>and Valor Economico<\/em>, ran pieces on the small SUV that Fiat<\/strong> is planning present with the 500 brand (October 1 – Fiat Hopes to Boost Retro 500 Sales With Small SUV<\/a>*; October 2 –  Fiat entra no segmento de utilit\u00e1rio esportivo pequeno<\/a>*). At the same time, El Pais<\/em>, wrote about bicycles and Giovanni Pinarello<\/strong>, bicycle maker who recently passed away and who was famous for a bike ridden by champions like Miguel Indurain (September 30 – Giovanni Pinarello, constructor de las bicicletas de Indurain<\/a>).<\/p>\n
