That came out in the interview that the CEO of Luxottica, <strong>Andrea Guerra<\/strong>, gave to the <em>Financial Times<\/em> (May 11&nbsp; &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/c75ae5b6-d6cb-11e3-907c-00144feabdc0.html?siteedition=intl#axzz31U2ETpmD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">An eye on the future of luxury?<\/a>*). In the interview, Guerra explained the implications of the agreement that the Italian group \u2013 a leader in the sector thanks to innovation \u2013 signed with Google for the production of Google Glass.<\/p>\n<p>However, technology is not the only tendency in the luxury sector. Made in Italy designers are also putting their names on Italy\u2019s art heritage, with an emphasis on patronage of the arts, which \u2013 according to <em>Le Monde<\/em> \u2013 is reminiscent of the Medicis. In Florence, <strong>Ferragamo<\/strong>, normally covered for its products (<em>Washington Post<\/em>, May 8 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/entertainment\/celebrities\/ferragamo-launches-signature-fiamma-bag\/2014\/05\/08\/5a791210-d6c6-11e3-8f7d-7786660fff7c_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ferragamo launches signature Fiamma bag<\/a>), has financed the renewal of some of the rooms of the Uffizi (May 12 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/economie\/article\/2014\/05\/12\/salvatore-ferragamo-a-la-rescousse-de-la-galerie-des-offices-a-florence_4415142_3234.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salvatore Ferragamo \u00e0 la rescousse de la Galerie des Offices, \u00e0 Florence<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Italian industry and recovery<\/strong> \u2013 The foreign press also reported on the recovery seen in Italian industry. <strong>Enel<\/strong> has increased its revenues in the last quarter (<em>Expansion<\/em>, May 8&nbsp; &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.expansion.com\/2014\/05\/08\/empresas\/energia\/1399537407.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Enel gana un 5% m\u00e1s en el trimestre<\/a>), and the Italian Strategic Fund identified Shanghai Electric as a partner interested in the prospects of <strong>Ansaldo Energia<\/strong> (<em>Financial Times,<\/em> May 8&nbsp; &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/4e8e4cc4-d6ba-11e3-b251-00144feabdc0.html#axzz31U2ETpmD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shanghai Electric to buy Ansaldo Energia stake<\/a>*).<\/p>\n<p>Internationalization is indeed a key factor, especially in the high end. That is the case of <strong>Maserati<\/strong>, which along with other products \u2013 explains the agency <em>Bloomberg<\/em> \u2013 is preparing for its best sales results in Japan, again thanks to the recovery (May 12 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2014-05-11\/maserati-joins-vw-to-loosen-toyota-s-hold-on-japan-roads-cars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maserati, VW Lead Foreign Cars Making Inroads in Japan<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travels in Italy<\/strong> \u2013 An earthy paradise.
