According to the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>, last year Italian asset managers brought in a flow of 48 million euros, the record for the last 14 years (April<strong> <\/strong>15 &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/news\/articles\/SB10001424052702303887804579503032568743564?KEYWORDS=italy&amp;mg=reno64-wsj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian Funds Attract Record Cash<\/a>), &nbsp;while the paper\u2019s&nbsp; <em>Money Beat<\/em> blog explained that everyone is eyeing the new issue of the <strong>Italian Treasury inflation-linked bonds<\/strong> after the record of the previous year (April<strong> <\/strong>11 &#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/moneybeat\/2014\/04\/11\/italian-bonds-this-time-for-retail-investors\/?KEYWORDS=italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian Bonds: This Time for Retail Investors<\/a>). And the offering was indeed successful. As <em>Bloomberg<\/em> reported on April 13, demand exceeded 6.7 million euros on the first day (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2014-04-13\/italy-tests-retail-investors-interest-for-inflation-linked-bond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy Tests Retail Investors\u2019 Interest for Inflation-Linked Bond<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>However, the foreign press did not only concentrate on capital market investments. <em>Bloomberg<\/em> also wrote about one of the great European investments funds, Partners Group<strong>, <\/strong>which has just invested in <strong>photovoltaic&nbsp;plants<\/strong> in Italy, with the idea of acquiring others in the future (April<strong> <\/strong>14 &#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2014-04-14\/partners-group-acquires-solar-plants-in-italy-plans-to-buy-more\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;Partners Group Acquires Solar Plants in Italy, Plans to Buy More<\/a>). Instead,&nbsp;<em>The Times<\/em> ran an article on real estate, telling readers that <strong>Venice<\/strong> is one of the markets with the best performance in the purchase of second homes by the wealthier British (April<strong> <\/strong>11 &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/tto\/life\/property\/article4059740.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palazzo living in the heart of Venice<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women at the head of Italia Spa<\/strong> \u2013 Things are apparently changing at the head of the Italian Treasury holding. Government appointments to the boards of directors (<em>Bloomberg<\/em>&nbsp;&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2014-04-14\/descalzi-starace-nominated-to-eni-enel-posts-in-italy-shakeup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Descalzi, Starace Nominated to Eni, Enel Posts in Italy Shakeup<\/a>;&nbsp;<em>El Pais &#8211;&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/economia.elpais.com\/economia\/2014\/04\/14\/actualidad\/1397508932_701964.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El Gobierno italiano nombra a Francesco Starace como sustituto de Conti en Enel<\/a>) were the subject of several articles in the foreign press which \u2013 on April 15 \u2013 welcomed three women managers (<strong>Emma Marcegaglia, Patrizia Grieco <\/strong>&nbsp;and<strong> Luisa Todini<\/strong>) to the head of the large public group. Special attention was paid to these events by the two major international financial papers: the <em>Financial Times<\/em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/acbe6dda-c4ac-11e3-9aeb-00144feabdc0.html?siteedition=intl#axzz2z1gvHrM8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Women to the fore as corporate Italy embraces change<\/a>) and the W<em>all Street Journal <\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/corporate-intelligence\/2014\/04\/15\/italy-spa-welcomes-three-new-chairwomen-of-the-board\/?KEYWORDS=italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy SpA Welcomes Three New Chairwomen of the Board<\/a>), as well as the German papers (Die Welt:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.welt.de\/wirtschaft\/article126988438\/Frauen-uebernehmen-die-Macht-in-Staatskonzernen.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frauen \u00fcbernehmen die Macht in Staatskonzernen<\/a>; Faznet:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.faz.net\/aktuell\/wirtschaft\/eurokrise\/italien\/italien-wechselt-manager-von-staatskonzernen-aus-12896546.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italien wechselt Manager von Staatskonzernen aus<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fashion and design<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Brunelle Cucinelli<\/strong> declared to <em>Bloomberg<\/em> that he was full of optimism, not only for his own group, but the high end market in general. The manager reported that he saw a rosy future for Italian luxury goods for 2014 &nbsp;(April<strong> <\/strong>14 &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2014-04-14\/cucinelli-sees-rosy-2014-amid-strong-demand-for-exclusivity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cucinelli Sees Rosy 2014 Amid Strong Demand for Exclusivity<\/a>).<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Of course, as the CEO of Pomellato \u2013 <strong>Andrea Morante<\/strong> \u2013 declared in a video interview, again to <em>Bloomberg<\/em>, the sector will have to face the challenges of internationalization and size (April<strong> <\/strong>14 &#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/videos\/2014-04-14\/luxury-companies-will-face-problem-of-size-morante\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luxury Companies Will Face Problem of Size: Morante<\/a>). Still, as always, there was interest in fashion, seen in the success of \u201cItalian Glamor,\u201d the exhibit in Rio dei Janeiro of 120 creations by the great Italian designers (<em>O Globo<\/em>, April<strong> <\/strong>11 &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/ela.oglobo.globo.com\/moda\/exposicao-italian-glamour-encanta-leitores-do-ela-12172281\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Exposi\u00e7\u00e3o &#8216;Italian glamour&#8217; encanta leitores do ELA&nbsp;<\/a>). The <em>Washington Post<\/em> told the story of the return of Alfa Romeo on the US market with the 4C sports car, a small supercar \u201d (April<strong> <\/strong>16 &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/alfa-heads-to-us-in-june-with-sporty-54000-4c\/2014\/04\/16\/3059a6ac-c5a0-11e3-b708-471bae3cb10c_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alfa heads to US in June with sporty $54,000 4C<\/a>) and <em>Bloomberg Businessweek<\/em>&nbsp; reported on the success of the concept <strong>Maserati<\/strong>&nbsp;Alfieri (April<strong> <\/strong>15 &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/news\/2014-04-15\/maserati-profit-seen-offsetting-fiat-europe-losses-as-sales-jump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maserati Weighs New Alfieri Sports Car After Orders Triple<\/a>). <em>Bloombergy <\/em>also visited the headquarters of <strong>Pininfarina<\/strong>, designing luxury cars for 80 years (B<em>loomberg Businessweek<\/em>, April<strong> <\/strong>15 &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/videos\/2014-04-14\/inside-the-design-studio-where-ferraris-are-born\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Inside the Design Studio Where Ferraris Are Born<\/a>) and the Spanish <em>Expansion<\/em> gave a test run to the California, the motorcycle that expresses the <strong>Guzzi<\/strong> way of life (April<strong> <\/strong>15 &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.expansion.com\/2014\/04\/14\/empresas\/motor\/1397510769.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">California 1400 Touring, verdadero Moto Guzzi &#8216;way of life&#8217;<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Culture, tourism, and cuisine<\/strong> \u2013 The spotlights were again trained on Italian culture.
