Investments and privatization in Italy<\/strong> \u2013 As part of the plan \u201cDestination Italy\u201d, new investments are coming from the Middle East. Last week, the foreign press focused on the mission of Prime Minister Enrico Letta in the emirates and reported on the government\u2019s commitment to finding foreign investors for privatization. So, while negotiations continued between private partners for the entry of Ethias in Alitalia (Bloomberg Businessweek<\/em>, February 2  – UAE airline nears decision on Alitalia stake<\/a>), there was also news on possible ENI stock operations <\/strong>(Bloomberg Businessweek<\/em>, 3  – Italian PM Discusses Possibility of Qatari Investment in Eni<\/a>),  as well as those of ENEL (Handelsblatt<\/em>, February 4  – Verkauf rettet Enel die Jahresbilan<\/a>).<\/p>\n

In addition, on February 4, the Financial <\/em>Times, explained that the electric company was reducing its debt more than expected, (Financial Times – <\/em>Enel cuts net debt by \u20ac3bn in 2013<\/a>; The Wall Street Journal – <\/em>Enel Cuts Net Debt More than Expected <\/a>*),  and improving its targets despite the drop in production (Bloomberg Businessweek<\/em>– Enel Beats Debt Target Even as Sales and Power Production Fall<\/a>). And in addition, the company\u2019s renewable energy holding Enel Green Power<\/strong> has increased sales by 12%, as explained by the Spanish paper Expansion<\/em> (February 3  – Enel Green Power eleva un 12% sus ingresos anuales, con 2.800 millones<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Unpublished novel by Chaplin discovered in Bologna<\/strong> \u2013 The Cineteca of Bologna<\/strong> has discovered Charlie Chaplin\u2019s first and only novel in its archives. News of the discovery \u2013 \u201cFootlights\u201d \u2013 and its publication in English by the Emilia Romagna movie library made news world wide on the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of the birth of The Little Tramp. Between February 3 and 5, the news jumped from the US (New York Times<\/em> – Unpublished Chaplin Novella to Be Released<\/a>) to Great Britain (The Times<\/em> – Charlie Chaplin finally breaks his silence as a budding novelist<\/a>*), passing through Brazil (O Globo<\/em> –  Livro in\u00e9dito de Charlie Chaplin ser\u00e1 lan\u00e7ado na It\u00e1lia <\/a>) and Spain (El Mundo<\/em> –  Publican en Italia una novela in\u00e9dita de Charlie Chaplin<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Tourism and lifestyle<\/strong> \u2013 The foreign press also ran articles on Italian tourism and lifestyle. El Pais <\/strong><\/em>gloried over some of Rome<\/strong>\u2019s most beautiful spots, photographed with a smartphone (February 3  – Roma a vista de smartphone<\/a>), while the New York Times<\/em> announced to its readers that the Positano restaurant Le Sirenuse<\/strong>, with its cuisine and style, would be a guest star in Stanta Monica (February 5  – An Italian Hotel Will Be a Guest Star in California<\/a>). There was also news about another top icon of Italian taste: the French weekly L\u2019Express<\/em> explained the secrets of Nutella<\/strong> in ten points on the world day dedicated to the famous chocolate spread (February 5  – La p\u00e2te \u00e0 tartiner Nutella en d<\/a>ix points<\/a>).<\/p>\n
