This is not only true of sovereign funds of Qatar, which has decided to invest in the property development project of <strong>Milano Porta Nuova<\/strong> (buying 40% of an area valued at 2 billion euro as reported in the <em>Financial Times<\/em> on May 18 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/03794b80-be51-11e2-bb35-00144feab7de.html#axzz2TobT88qV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Qatar buys into Milan Porta Nuova property project<\/a>). There are also individual European investors who are looking at possible deals, especially for <strong>luxury properties<\/strong> (as <em>Businessweek<\/em> explained on May 23 &#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/articles\/2013-05-23\/germans-snap-up-italys-luxury-real-estate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Germans Snap Up Italy&#8217;s Luxury Real Estate<\/a>). The most interesting and exclusive locations are the ones in buyers demand. The <em>New York Times<\/em> analyzes this trend in an article about sales of villas on Lake Como (May 24 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/05\/24\/greathomesanddestinations\/24iht-recomo24.html?adxnnl=1&amp;adxnnlx=1369390007-NWN9RZOeOQJp1jWx3bJj1g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Around Lake Como, a Buyers\u2019 Market Opens Up<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Art, culture and technology<\/strong> \u2013 Last week, Italian culture was also in the pages of the foreign press. The <em>New York Times<\/em> interviewed <strong>Massimiliano Gioni<\/strong>, artistic director of the Venice Biennale, and the new head of an institution with 118 years of history \u201d (May 23 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/05\/26\/arts\/design\/massimiliano-gioni-of-venice-biennale.html?pagewanted=all&amp;_r=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Guide in Venice<\/a>).Spain also showed its interest in Italian culture: the Barcelona Center of Contemporary Culture opened a major show on the \u201clove affair\u201d between <strong>Pasolini and Rome&nbsp; <\/strong>(<em>El Pais, <\/em>May<em> <\/em>22 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/cultura.elpais.com\/cultura\/2013\/05\/22\/actualidad\/1369250350_715659.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pasolini y Roma, historia de amor<\/a>). There was also a report on Italian technological excellence. <em>Arab News<\/em> ran a piece on the new plans for <strong>university cooperation&nbsp; between Italy and Saudi Arabia<\/strong> (May 20 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arabnews.com\/news\/452187\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy offers to train Saudi scholarship students<\/a>) which will provide scholarships to graduate students in world-class technological centers with the aim of transferring competence acquired in the Saudi market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourism, culinary arts and fashion<\/strong> \u2013 As always, there was news about sights to see. <em>Sueddeutsche Zeitung<\/em> discovered <strong>Sardinia<\/strong> during a tour of Isola di San Pietro (May 19 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sueddeutsche.de\/reise\/insel-san-pietro-abgeschiedene-welt-1.1674164\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abgeschiedene Welt<\/a>), while the <em>New York Times Magazine<\/em> described bike trips to see the sights and race in the <strong>Chianti<\/strong> region &nbsp;(May 20 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com\/2013\/05\/20\/chianti-by-bike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chianti by Bike<\/a>). The British paper <em>The Independent<\/em> returned to visit <strong>Ravello<\/strong>, Wagner\u2019s favorite vacation spot for the composer\u2019s 200<sup>th<\/sup> birthday (May 22 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/travel\/europe\/arias-and-graces-in-ravello-8625989.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aria and Graces in Ravello<\/a>), &nbsp;the <em>Sueddeutsche Zeitung<\/em> ran a piece on <strong>Italian cuisine<\/strong> while still in Bavaria, with an article on Italian restaurants in Munich with the intriguing title \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sueddeutsche.de\/muenchen\/italienisches-restaurant-marechiaro-mamma-mia-1.1676215\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mamma mia!<\/a>&#8221; (May 20)., and the <em>Frakfurter Allgemeine Zeitung <\/em>published a portrait of the Bel Paese, Italy\u2019s beauties and contradictions (May 22 &#8211; Bella Italia in Bewegung ).
