Fiat once again investing in Italy<\/strong> \u2013 A billion euros to Melfi to make SUVs for export. Fiat announced new investments in Italy and the December 21 news was widely addressed in the foreign press, not only in the markets like the U.S. and Brazil where the Turinese manufacturer is also based (Washington Post<\/em> – Italy’s Fiat announces $1.3 BN investment to produce SUVs in southern Italy<\/a>; Wall Street Journal<\/em> – Fiat Begins Rolling Out Turnaround Plan<\/a>;Valor Economico<\/em> – Fiat anuncia investimento de 1 bilh\u00e3o de euros em plano de recupera\u00e7\u00e3o<\/a>; Folha de S. Paulo<\/em> – Fiat investe emmarcas de luxo para fugir da crise europeia<\/a>), but also France and Spain (La Tribune<\/em> – Fiat va investir massivement dans ses usines italiennes, qui exporteront vers les Etats-unis<\/a>; Les Echos<\/em> – Fiat va investir plus de 1 milliard d\u2019euros dans une usine italienne<\/a>; El Pais<\/em> – Fiat anuncia la inversi\u00f3n de 1.000 millones para realizar dos autos en Italia<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Italian groups in emerging markets<\/strong> \u2013 The International papers also turned the spotlight on other Italian groups. Barilla<\/strong> has decided to invest in the Chinese market (Financial Times<\/em>, 16 dicembre – Barilla looks to beef up China presence<\/a>; Valor Economico<\/em>, December 18 – Barilla vai mudar sua massa para caber na “wok” <\/a>*) , while Saras<\/strong> signed a refining agreement with the  Russian oil giant Roseneft (Moscow Times<\/em>, December 18 – Rosneft Setting Up Joint Venture With Saras<\/a>)..<\/p>\n

Lifestyle, tourism and culture<\/strong> \u2013 There were also articles on fashion, culture and tourism. Mario Moretti Polegato<\/strong> discussed Italian lifestyles in an interview with the Spanish ABC<\/em> (December 15 –  Mario Moretti \u00abAlguna vez me he sentido discriminado por el mundo de la moda\u00bb<\/a>) and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung<\/em> wrote about another Italian brand, Fay, <\/strong>and its anti-crisis strategies (December 21 –  Einen Schnitt nach vorn machen<\/a>). The Amercian news magazine Newsweek<\/em> ran a piece on Italian wine production with an interview with the Antinori<\/strong> sisters (December 16 – Italy\u2019s Antinori Sisters Prepare To Run A Wine Empire<\/a>). Finally, the Argentinean La Nacion<\/em> had a more classic theme: a visit to Rome in two days (December 16 –  Roma no se visita en un d\u00eda, pero en dos s\u00ed<\/a>).<\/p>\n
