Italy\u2019s Future<\/strong> \u2013 The beginning of the election campaign, not without its surprises, attracted the interest of the foreign press, which dedicated a great deal of space to Italy\u2019s political and economic future (December 4, Financial Times<\/em> – Italy after Monti<\/a>).  The main international papers concentrated first of all on the resignation of Prime Minister Mario Monti<\/strong> (between December 8 and 12 in the Wall Street Journal<\/em> – Ciao, Monti; <\/a> La Vanguardia<\/em> \u2013 La espiral italiana<\/a>;  Publico<\/em> – Saga italiana. Draghi, Person of the Year<\/strong> \u2013 Brtain\u2019s economic daily, the Financial Times, <\/em>has named Mario Draghi, \u201cthe Italian determined to save the euro\u201d, the man of 2012 \u201d (December 13, Mario Draghi, Person of The Year<\/a>). The paper of the City ran a lengthy profile of the President of the European Central Bank, complete with videos and an interview.  <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSteady Hand\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Other reports on Italy\u2019s elections included interviews by Pier Luigi Bersani<\/strong> on the reforms carried out and on Monti\u2019s plans. The foreign press underlined Bersani\u2019s commitment to continue Monti\u2019s firm approach (December 10-14 in the Wall Street Journal<\/em> – Italy Front-Runner Vows Steady Hand<\/a>; Die Welt<\/em> – Er schw\u00f6rt auf Reformen<\/a>; Valor Economico<\/em> – Favorito na It\u00e1lia, Bersani promete manter ajuste fiscal<\/a>*).<\/p>\n
