Italy<\/strong>\u2019s style and positive image<\/strong> \u2013 Newspapers around the world continued their scrutiny of happenings in Italy, especially vis-\u00e0-vis economic reform and the revision of budget goals. Still, in a week marked by news of economic trends, the positive image of Italy\u2019s style and art was exalted  by the foreign press. Le Monde<\/em> reported on the role of Brunello Cucinelli<\/strong> \u201cthe king of upscale cashmere\u201d, in Milan\u2019s financial markets (April 17 – Brunello Cucinelli et ses cachemires haut de gamme entrent en Bourse<\/a>*)  and Gulf News<\/em> revealed the growth plans of sports car manufacturer Maserati<\/strong>, planning to produce ten times as many cars by 2015 (April 16 – Maserati to make 10 times more cars by 2015<\/a>). And while Ducati<\/strong>, another Italian carmaker, was bought by the German Audi, the International Herald Tribune<\/em> recalls the Bologna-based manufacturer\u2019s pull on emerging markets (April 18 – Audi bets on Ducati for emerging markets<\/a>).  Finally, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung<\/em> used racing legened Ferrari to describe the new adventure of NTV, Italy\u2019s high speed rail line on the eve of the inauguration of its first line (April 18 – Ein \u201eFerrari auf Schienen\u201c<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Another appointment of Italian style, the Milan Furniture Fair<\/strong>, was showcased in the Wall Street Journal<\/em> (April 18 \u2013 Making a mark in Milan<\/a>). And the country\u2019s culinary tradition was seen as an excellent representative of Italian life style: El Pais<\/em> discussed chef Massimo Bottura<\/strong>  (April 18 \u2013 Lecciones de vida y de cocina<\/a>), and  China Daily <\/em>\u201ctasted\u201d Ornellaia, \u201cthe world\u2019s best wine\u201d (April 14 – China gets a taste of world\u2019s best wine<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The arts in the foreign press<\/strong> \u2013 Painting, opera, piano music and cinema all took center stage this week. The Economist<\/em> printed an article on the Paris exhibition of the paintings of Renaissance master Cima da Conegliano<\/strong> (April 19 \u2013 An Overlooked Master<\/a>), Le Monde<\/em> had a piece on productions of Italian operas in the French capital (April 19 – Amours et noires trahisons au menu de deux pi\u00e8ces fondatrices du v\u00e9risme italien<\/a>*) and the Wall Street Journal <\/em>ran a portrait of Italian pianist Roberto Prosseda<\/strong> (April 19 \u2013 Playing Heart, Soul and Feet<\/a>). The seventh art, cinema, was the subject of an article in Brazilian Folha de S. Paulo <\/em>about the restored edition of Sergio Leone\u2019s <\/strong>\u201cOnce Upon a Time in America\u201d to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival (April 20 – Filme restaurado de Sergio Leone ser\u00e0 exibido em Cannes<\/a>*)<\/p>\n
