The President of the ECB, described by the Brazilian business paper <em>Valor Econ\u00f4mico<\/em> as \u201cthe man whose mission is to save the euro\u201d, was the subject of several articles and interviews in recent days. In particular, the London-based <em>Financial Times<\/em> highlighted that his previous experience as head of the Bank of Italy is key to understanding Draghi\u2019s moves at the ECB (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.valor.com.br\/financas\/1145172\/draghi-o-homem-com-missao-de-salvar-o-euro\">Draghi, o homem com a miss\u00e3o de salvar o euro<\/a>* in <em>Valor Econ\u00f4mico<\/em> of December 20; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/ea01b862-27da-11e1-a4c4-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1hGN4wOrz\">Mario Draghi: charged to save the euro<\/a> in the <em>Financial Times<\/em> of December 18; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lavanguardia.com\/opinion\/articulos\/20111220\/54241308152\/manel-perez-la-inquietud-de-draghi.html\">La inquietud de Draghi<\/a> in <em>La Vanguardia<\/em> of December 20).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Italian style, science and culture<\/strong> <strong>\u2013<\/strong> Whilst foreign press interest in economic policy news coming from Italy remained high during the monitored week, the spotlight was particularly trained on Italian style and culture. Garnering several press mentions were the design features of the new <strong>Fiat<\/strong> Panda (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/elmundomotor\/2011\/12\/16\/coches\/1324042983.html\">Nuevo Fiat Panda: m\u00e1s italiano que nunca<\/a> in <em>El Mundo<\/em> on December 19; and <a href=\"http:\/\/recherche.lefigaro.fr\/recherche\/access\/lefigaro_fr.php?archive=BszTm8dCk78atGCYonbyznfsQfwD0vzNDOnmy7XgRwRMxslZF0jhj++rIu1+9YNAu2IGtjAq08M=\">Fiat relance une Panda d\u00e9sirable<\/a>* in <em>Le Figaro<\/em> also on December 19) as well as of the <strong>Alfa Romeo<\/strong> Giulietta, which has won the hearts of Argentines thanks to a new model produced in conjunction with Maserati (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lanacion.com.ar\/1433319-un-alfa-romeo-hecho-para-maserati\">Un Alfa Romeo hecho para Maserati<\/a> in <em>La Naci\u00f3n<\/em> on December 17).<\/p>\n<p>There was also renewed interest in Italian cinema: whilst <em>Le Monde<\/em> devoted an article to the director <strong>Dino Risi<\/strong>, whose films, in restored versions, are being shown again on French television (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressdisplay.com\/pressdisplay\/it\/showlink.aspx?bookmarkid=7BUKYS1K9B45&amp;preview=article&amp;linkid=68de552c-dabe-40ee-ab6d-fa324cd27eac&amp;pdaffid=5ndEKy1fE2RtBtNC0fV3Dw==\">Dino Risi, l\u2019inclassable<\/a>* on December 18), the Barcelona daily <em>La Vanguardia<\/em> carried a page-long review of the latest feature film by <strong>Bernardo Bertolucci<\/strong>, \u201cMe and you\u201d, adapted from a story of the same name by Niccol\u00f2 Ammaniti (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressdisplay.com\/pressdisplay\/it\/showlink.aspx?bookmarkid=M0C1W5SP37X6\">Bertolucci renace adolescente<\/a>* on December 21). Worthy of note in terms of Italian culture-related press coverage was the comment in Brazil\u2019s <em>Folha de S. Paulo<\/em> on the recent biography of <strong>Dante<\/strong> by Italian studies expert Barbara Reynolds (<a href=\"http:\/\/www1.folha.uol.com.br\/fsp\/ilustrada\/15308-retrato-de-dante-confunde-fato-e-conjectura.shtml\">Retrato de Dante confunde fato e conjectura<\/a>* on December 17).<\/p>\n<p>Finally, also making a splash in the pages of the international papers this week were the results of a study carried out by the <strong>Catholic University of Rome<\/strong>. Attracting the attention of various newspapers (from the UK to China and South Africa) was the discovery by Italian scientists that a sparing diet helps keep the mind young and in shape (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/food-and-drink\/news\/another-mince-pie-scientists-find-the-secret-to-a-long-indulgent-life-6279499.html\">Another mince pie?
