\"\"Aspenia international 1\/2026<\/span><\/b> \u2013 \u201cThe new scramble\u201d \u2013 delves into timely questions about resources and power. Every major player in the world is fighting for control over, or at least access to, the rare earths and the fossil fuels on which our societies depend. For a country or region to dominate the world’s markets and to jockey for positions at the top of the global game, resources and infrastructure are key, as well as know-how and skills. Indeed, actors with the upper hand are weaponizing other regions\u2019 dependencies on crucial resources. Furthermore, a search is on for new transportation and communication routes, which is shifting the levers of power, often thanks to specific geographical considerations. International trade \u2013 and with it, the prospects for economic progress \u2013 depends on a network of connections that functions as an exoskeleton for complex and advanced societies. The world order as we know it is fragmenting and shrinking and taking on all new contours, but one thing is sure: it remains heavily connected, both in material and digital terms. Technology has a lot to do with these developments, and this issue of Aspenia dedicates a series of articles to artificial intelligence in particular. While Big Tech rolls out ever more advanced tools, governments are scrambling to regulate the sector. Most users have little understanding of how AI works, which makes it particularly frightening, but even today’s innovators and experts are often calling for safeguards and limits. The articles published here make an effort to overcome some major misconceptions regarding artificial intelligence and its impact on politics, as well as on daily life, without too many preconceptions and from multiple perspectives. We have approached the topic with curiosity and intellectual openness.
