The conference was an occasion for the Aspen Junior Fellows to confront themselves with senior leaders on strategic issues concerning globalization. The debate focused primarily on Europe; participants don’t see the recent setbacks as a reason to give up on the Old Continent and it is therefore necessary to the fight demographic decline and relaunch the economy. The confrontation with two emerging economies such as China and India has once again underlined how these different but rapidly growing countries represent a great opportunity for Europe and Italy, as demonstrated by a few success stories illustrated during the meeting by Italian entrepreneurs. Moreover, it appears that, in order to face future challenges we need a new leadership capable of renewing itself according to the rapid changes in the global world: it is however important to maintain one’s personal background of talent, discipline, team spirit, creativity and competitive vision which are key factors in winning a great sports competition and can be successfully applied to other strategic sectors of today’s society.
